I have lived my entire life in the metropolitan Quad Cities area of Illinois and Iowa along the Mississippi River. I retired several years ago so now I finally have time to work on my family history.|
I am most intent on getting as many of my family members from my family tree added and connected then add as many as possible buried in local cemeteries starting with Hampton Township Cemetery and Zion Lutheran up on the hill then the other Hampton Township cemeteries; Homeland, Bowlesburg and Carbon Cliff, then on to other local Illinois Quad City cemeteries.
I'm not interested in building an empire of memorials for the sheer sake of numbers as some people seem to be, as I'm much more lax over turning them over to family members. If they are your relatives and not mine then just ask, tell me your relation and they are yours.
Also keep in mind, if I cannot contact you then don't ask me to do anything for you. Either have your messages enabled or an e-mail available, no exceptions. It is so frustrating when I have a question about an edit and I can't contact the person who sent it.
And please don't contact me and tell me I can't post obits because someone has said they have a copyright, they don't. When I post an obit I name the paper and I put it in parenthesis. Also, please do not contact me and tell me to remove census records from the memorial as that is the history of their life and no matter how "unappealing" it looks to some people, as long as it is under my management, it will remain.
I have spent many hours going thru every name in both the Biographical Record of Rock Island County, 1897 and the Portrait and Biographical Album of Rock Island County, 1885 to find matching memorials already in Find A Grave and when found these are added or sent to the owner of the memorial in hopes they will add the information to their memorial to not only give information on their lives but to assist other people in helping connect or create memorials.
My grand-niece AJ has been helping me on this, especially taking all the headstone photos for me.

Secondary Family lines of interest:
Hampton Township Cemetery, Hampton, IL and other 3 Hampton township cemeteries in Silvis, Barstow and Carbon Cliff, IL
Zion Lutheran, rural East Moline, IL
Riverside Cemetery, Moline, IL
I post my photos on FAG to share & help others with piecing together their own family trees. I am also not possessive of my photos & share them unconditionally, with everyone.

The gravestone for the Morrisons in the Southlawn Cemetery, Wayne Co., IA do not agree with those on their memorials #117438014 - #117437814.
I sent Edits for what is shown on the stones but couldn't get the CAPTCHA to work to send this explanation.
Thought you might want to check this out and make corrections if needed - or if not, a note of explanation so as not to confuse researchers.

I am posting a photo of her grave location. There is no marker but I was able to locate the graves on either side of her according to cemetery records so she must be in between.

Just one more correction for Johan Gabriel Svensson's parents. They were Sven Johansson (1787-1857) and Annika Gabrielsdotter (1777-1863). They lived in Spratarp, Skede, Jonköping lan, Sweden. This information is from the book written by Jean Norlin Olson, a granddaughter, for the Svensson Family reunion in 1938. Thank you for the time you spend documenting our ancestor's graves. Best Wishes, Sue Madsen

Thank you. If you do find Sara Swanson's grave site I would be honored to copy the information provided by Jean Norlin Olson. I will be traveling in late August/September in Sweden but will check on your progress when I return. Best Regards, Sue Madsen

Bob & AJ,
Got the photo removed and thanks for making the correction on the cemetery.

Thank you for your posting of Johan Gabriel Svensson in the Andover Township Cemetery. Just one correction his spouse moved to Moline where she lived with her daughter Mrs. August Danielson and went by the name Mrs. Sarah Swanson. She passed at her daughter's home on 01 Jan 1900. She was buried at the Riverside Cemetery in Moline. I do not see her listed on Find-a-grave there but I do see her daughter and son-in-law so I would think her grave would be close to them? I live in California so I am not able to go to the cemetery but maybe we can make a correction on the link for Johan Gabriel Svensson. The Svensson family had a reunion in 1938 and published a book with pictures and the history of the family. I have a copy of the book and this information is in the History written by Jean Norlin Olson. Thank you again for your wonderful work. Sue Madsen

Thank you for the transfer of Frank Calvin Schofer 128580127. I agree that census records are records of people's lives, and in the case of so many of my distant relatives that is likely all that I will ever know about them.
The Bios that I will eventually add to several thousand of my relative's pages will be based upon the many more thousands of census records that I have gathered over the past nine years. I have condensed the info you had in Franks's Bio and have added a few more details that weren't indexed, but which I had transcribed to my printouts of what was indexed.

done, FYI, the ones I left open at Hampton may not bet there, but since most of what we found was in that G section, I thought we could give it a run next time through, or maybe someone else could. We did that last, and were getting pretty tired, and it was pretty warm out..
Hello Bob and AJ,
On your memorial for Gideon Brayton, there is a photo of Gideon, Ruth, Russel and a younger brother. I am wondering if this is correct. Both Gideon and Ruth died in 1851 which is very early for a family portrait to exist. Also, Russel looks to be 20 which would place the photo at 1825 or so which is too early. Any thoughts?Mark_o_Meyer@hotmail.com
