I wouldn't call myself a genealogist, but rather, someone who has the results of decades of genealogy research conducted by others. My grandfather, H.C. Gray, and mother, Dorothy Gray Christoffersen, researched families including (but not limited to) Gray, Grant, Ringgold, Brooks, Carter, Carothers, Ussery, Alsup, Mayfield, Goad, Irwin, White, Whitworth, Calvert, etc., through MS, TN, GA, NC, VA, MD, and such back to the 1600-1700's. My father's sister & their uncle compiled much information about their Christoffersen, Mortensen, Jacobsen, and Sorensen families who emigrated from Denmark in the late 1800's. I am interested in preserving & sharing family history & filling in the blanks. Unfortunately, I have little time to research documents at courthouses & libraries outside of Middle TN. Having seen plenty of inaccurate "information" on the internet, I take everything not documented with a grain of salt.|

You indicated that you have pictures of Lycurgus Alsup
related to his service in the Confederate Army, also E.B. Alsup and W Whithworth... I would love to have a copy of these photos. Lycurgus was my great Grandfather.
Thanks for your help,

I am a direct descendant of Tabitha Brown and Drury Alsup through their son, James Sidney Alsup/Gorman.
Tabitha was a brick wall in my research and I was excited to find that she was Cherokee. However....after researching for months, she is still a brick wall. I have not been able to find any evidence of her being the daughter of Chief Drowning Bear. He wasn't married until 1790.
This info comes from several websites including this one and includes a list of his children:
Tabitha was born in Mecklenburg, VA in 1785. I finally had a "duh" moment and looked up Browns who may have lived in Mecklenburg, VA at that time. There were quite a few. One theory I have been entertaining is that the Alsups started on their move to TN from Hanover, VA and Drury met her in Mecklenburg. She went along with them and they got married in Nashville, TN on January 27, 1806. Or perhaps her family packed up and moved with the Alsups and several other families. That happened quite often…families traveling together for protection.
If you have evidence (with dates that line up) that Tabitha was actually descended from Yonaguska, please let me know.

I was wondering if you would like to manage frances's site. I do not know her personally. I got the info from the grave marker. Let me know if I can add anything else or transfer management.
