Bio

While searching for my own ancestor's graves, I enjoy taking pictures of nearby graves and try to focus on obscure or easily missed markers and getting them uploaded so they won't be lost to time. Being a military family, we particularly like to record military markers.

We also try to fulfill some of the many photo requests at the big urban cemeteries near our home. However, we will no longer contact cemeteries to get burial location information - we have endured enough sales pitches! Accurate section and grave location information in large cemeteries really increases the odds of the grave being found and it always helps to know if there really is a marker on the grave.

Marker photography has been a learning process and hopefully my photos have improved, however, it can be a challenge at times due to environmental conditions (sun, shadows, glare, etc.) and cemetery maintenance standards (weeds, leaves, debris). While we try to get good pictures, we are not in the business of cleaning or weeding markers. It does appear that there is a job opportunity there for someone.

It is not about numbers of entries owned for us, so if we recorded a memorial of a member of your family, we will usually have no problem with transferring maintenance to a closer family member. Or if you need a picture removed to add a better one, just let us know.

I do not routinely verify edit requests. Most of my listings are not my family so I take edit requests at face value and appreciate the additional information.

Remembering those who have passed on is an honor and hopefully along the way we have helped someone find the final resting place of a lost loved one.

2020 NOTE: I do not know why some of my marker pictures are NOT upright. They were definitely upright when I posted them!! If you spot one, send me an edit request and let me know and I will fix it.

2023 NOTE: For some unknown reason, Find-A-Grave placed my email address on a list of non-working numbers. The result being that I was not getting any notice of messages. For those that did not get a response for the last 6 months or more, I apologize, however, the issue was with Find-A-Grave, not me. I have been assured as of July 2023 that the issue is fixed.
