RE: Augustine Christy
Or he could be in another local cemetery as yet undocumented (meaning his grave). Funny, though, because somewhere the record states that Archibald Christy is buried there (Souvenir of Loretto Centenary maybe?) and there is no stone at St. Mike's for him. So one or more of the former priests were keeping some records. Maybe it was a hobby of theirs too! :)

Thanks for the information.

Do you mind if I pick your brain from time to time?

RE: Augustine Christy
Ya, I don't know how I missed that, his wife is in the same cemetery! Thanks.

Is there some way to get a complete burial list from St. Mike's in Loretto? I'm curious if there are other Christys there besides the known posted ones. I'm particularly keen to find out what happened to Archibald's son Sylvester as he seems to lived his whole life around there. I'm min. 3 hours away so it's not an easy day trip. Thanks again. Kevin.

Thanks! The Christys in Cambria county are all relatives of mine. Much appreciated.

Hello!
Memorial #131305882 is actually MATHIAS W., not Tobias. Mathias was my great-grandfather. He was born on 12/27/1851 in Loretto and died 1/27/1889 in Loretto. He was married to Josephine Fechter (5/5/1861 - 10/20/1920, both in Loretto). Looks like they ran out of room on the headstone for her entire maiden name, doesn't it. I've been wondering why Josephine was on Find-a-grave, but Mathias wasn't. I zoomed in on the photo of Josephine's headstone and...there he was! They were married on July 15, 1884 in Loretto.

Actually, now that I've typed that all out, would you consider transferring both Mathias and Josephine (#131305985) to me?

Thank you for all the wonderful work you've put into the St. Michael's Cemetery listing. I took my daughter to see Prince Gallitzen's tomb four years ago and we wandered the old part of the cemetery a bit. My great (not sure how many greats at this moment)-grandparents were Hugh McConnell and Elizabeth Walters who were adopted by Father Gallitzen. What an amazing man he was!

Hi again, I have no problem with the delete button. I'm more into a person having a memorial for their future family members.

Thanks
Warren
