I am a retired Navy Master Chief with 22 years of Service including 2 tours in Vietnam and 1 in Desert Shield/Desert Storm. Most of my career was in helicopter Search & Rescue.|
I was attached to Helicopter Attack (Light) Squadron Three, HA(L)-3, in Vietnam 1970-1972, and NAS Whidbey Island SAR 1974-1977 & 1980-1984, among other duty stations, and have been trying to track down the rest of the guys who were there. Unfortunately, I find way too many of them with this "Find A Grave" search feature.
Any photos I take for Find A Grave, I do not claim these photos as exclusive or copyrighted and anyone can copy and use the photos for whatever purpose you desire except to slander or disrespect. Dan

Thank you so much for adding the Temporary Marker for Gray! Will you be able to make a picture of the permanent one when he gets it?
|Rick Valentine||RE: Tommy Jo Arnes Grave Photo|
Just in case I painted a bleak picture of where Tommy Jo Arnes is buried, I have posted a couple more photos showing the Baby section he is buried in. The rock building is a small chapel, it was the funeral chapel until a larger more modern chapel was built.

Dan: The small 4" X 12" cement markers were originally placed by the cemetery when the families could not afford to place a private marker. They were only meant to be temporary, many were never replaced with permanent markers, they obviously did not weather well. They were small enough that they were easily overgrown. I always bring a screwdriver so I can poke around the plot if no stone is visible. Section 9-B at Fairmount is a 'Baby' Section, sadly more of the burials there have the small temporary stone than have permanent stones. Many more plots have no visible stones at all, most of those have 'Temp' stones that are buried. So sad!
