PLEASE READ
To request a memorial transfer or edit, please go to the MEMORIAL PAGE and use the EDIT LINK. If sending obit text, please include the source. Thanks!

Tip: Before creating ANY new memorial, PLEASE search the site first. If one already exists for that person, request a transfer. PLEASE don't create a new one. Duplicate memorials leads to confusion for other researchers and a big mess when it comes to linking family members.

Now, onto less important stuff...

All edits and transfers sent my way are current as of 03/01/2014. Sure doesn't feel like March outside in the Midwest. Brrr

I am glad to see that FindAGrave records now show up in Ancestrydotcom searches. This has given me some info on distant family.

I am happy to transfer memorials to families to update and maintain. Find A Grave has helped me in my family history and I'm glad to share info that helps others.

If I have uploaded a photo you wish to use, please feel free to right-click on the picture and save it to use as you wish in your genealogy work.

If a memorial is a duplicate, please check the dates of both memorials & notify the creator of the newer one. I always try to search for an existing memorial before creating a new one and recommend this practice to anyone contributing to Find A Grave. It saves time and keeps the database accurate.

My interests include: nature, photography, knitting & crochet, family history. I work in IT, primarily with database reporting.

I call the Midwest home. I traipse all over it.

I believe everyone who's walked the earth deserves to be remembered. Each life impacts another in great and seemingly small ways. For this reason, I create memorials for family and strangers alike. I hope the memorials I add provide people with information they need on their ancestors as well as serve as a place of remembrance.

ID Military in Westlawn-Hillcrest
We are currently working to identify anyone buried in Westlawn-Hillcrest Cemetery Omaha NE that has served in the military. If you have a loved one buried there or know of someone, please send us a message. We place flags on the graves for Memorial Day. This project is sponsored by Centennial Masonic Lodge.

If you can send us the names, we will be sure to include them on our list to get a flag.

Thank you for the help with this ongoing project.

Ren, if you will add all of the information I have on my record on the Kennard Cemetery site, I will delete my record so we do not have a duplicate. Thank you for your inquiry.

Thanks so much for your quick reply! Being sort of new to all this, what exactly does it mean for you to transfer this to me? I can tell you help a lot of people, and I want you to know how much I appreciate all you do.

Karlik
Good Morning, I found that you had started and added photos of Rudolph & Julia Karlik. I was wondering: Are you of any relation to them? I am trying to find out if there is a link to my family. They were the other Karlik family in South Omaha at the same time as my family. Thank you :)

Me again
Okay, from what I can see, you manage the following Braack memorials:

John (b. 1846), Anna A. (b. 1849), Elmer, and Gladys.

Elmer is good; he is properly linked to his parents, Henry and Anna (b. 1886).

I have sent you the edit with the link so John can be linked to his proper wife, Anna, whose memorial you also manage.

Gladys is another story. She was the daughter of Henry and Anna (b.1886), but I can see no evidence that she ever married (I actually believe that John and the elder Anna may have been her grandparents). It seems she shifted from the family home when she was around 11-13 into the home of her aunt and uncle, the Thadens. I believe you also manage them.

I don't know what happened with her parents, Henry and Anna, but they dropped off the radar by the time the 1930 census rolled around. Obviously they were somewhere, and we know where they were buried, but something happened. Don't know what though.

Okay, preping the info for Gladys, which you will be receiving shortly,

Thanks,
Sheila

Braaaaaaaaaaaaaaacks!!
Hi Ren

I received your message and note that you have deleted all corrections / links made. I acknowledge that things did get a bit confusing, so it may be best that you have done so.

I will reinitialize the corrections in question along with supporting info. Thank you for your kind patience and efforts, and my apologies for all the trouble,

Sheila

RE: Cecil Robert Hallowell, Sr.
Ren - Thanks for checking my request out so quickly. I've contacted a relative of Hallowell, Sr. and advised them of the misinformation. Perhaps they'll submit more up-to-date info. Again, thank you.

Braaaaaaaaaaaaaaacks!!
I am about to do it again!!!!!

Okay, Henry (1879), and not John, is the father of those children, per Elmer's obit. Anna (b. 1886), is their mom.

John (b. 1846) is married to the other Anna (b. 1849), and not to Gladys. Maybe these are even Henry's (1879) parents, and I just may snoop around to find out. Soooo frustrating.

Gladys appears to be going by Braack as a maiden name.

Lemme get on this. Thanks again,

Sheila :-/

Braack
Hi Ren,

I believe I am losing my marbles. I have made a very BIG mistake. Actually, John # 16636999, is married to Anna A. # 16637009 . I discovered that because of the headstone on both of their memorials.

But when I went about linking the parents, John and Anna A., to their children, I mistakenly took the memorial number for the other Anna (b. 1886)!!!!! *head thunk, head thunk .... ohhhh.

I made the family links via Elmer's obit contained on his memorial, here:

http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GSln=Braack&GSiman=1&GScid=100642&GRid=16676964&

John H. and Anna A. are the parents of Elmer (b. 1915), Gladys, Harley, Lloyd, Henry Jr, Della Kuhr, Betty Mumm, and Herman.

I might mention that there are two of the children I have not tied in. I suspect Herman is memorial # 3863712 . I cannot locate Lloyd, who was living in Louisville,NE, at all. I mention this just in case you happen to run across something.

Okay, I am going to see what all I messed up here and send out apologies and additional corrections. I KNEW about that other Anna, but I stumbled into that mistake anyway. So upset with myself, but glad you focused my attention back on the Braacks.

So ... per your message to me, Gladys would be the daughter of John and Anna A.(b. 1849), and not the wife of John. I am sorry to create all this confusion, and thank you for your message.

And yes, I agree that it is nice to see these virtual family trees grow, but with the provision that they are with the correct family :-)

Sheila
