For thirty plus years I have been involved in genealogy. When my mother died, she left some notes about a few ancestors she had uncovered and hoped I would continue her research. That was the hook-in-the-jaw that changed my life. I only regret that I have missed out on so many years that I could have used. Alas, all those family stories that went in one ear and out the other, and all those family members who took so much information to the grave with them. |
I am, however, thankful for the tools that are now available and for FindAGrave, a platform that I have spent many hours gaining from and contributing to.
If I have created a memorial for a member your family, who isn't related to me, and YOU CAN ADD INFORMATION TO THEIR BIO (not just family links), I will be glad to transfer it to you. However, many have received a transfer/transfers & have never added anything. This isn't fair to kin who may come along later who can do so.
An exception to the above are my Bell, Dodson, & Love ancestors and kin, most of whom have numerous descendants. Much of the information contained in their memorials is the result of many years of tedious research, and as new information comes to light, I would like to be able to make those changes. For these memorials please follow FindAGrave guidelines for transfers.
I will no longer respond to transfer or up-date requests that are sent to me on the Message Board. Requests sent this way many times have errors and often slow things down.
Instructions for ALL REQUESTS for corrections, additional information, or transfers:
1. Go to the memorial page, which has an "Edit" tab located on the upper right side of the memorial.
2. Click on the "Edit" tab, then click on the Suggest a correction or provide additional information link, which opens a message page.
3. Type in your message.
Making a request this way insures that no mistakes are made, because it takes me to the exact memorial.
Please do not post actual death certificates on my memorials. Instead, send the information shown on the certificate, & I will add it to the memorial.
Thanks for your understanding.

Can I add an obituary to my interment listing?
You should not copy obituary notices from newspapers (or from funeral home notices or web sites) to an individual's memorial record unless you have permission from the newspaper to do so or you are the author of the obituary. Some obituaries that were published in 1922 or earlier are now in the public domain. In general, obituaries in newspapers are submitted by the family with assistance from the funeral home. If the obituary is added to the memorial record, it should list the newspaper and date the obit was printed for example "Published in the Hattiesburg American, Hattiesburg, Mississippi, Internet Edition, April 11, 2007". Please do not include the names of living or surviving relatives in the biography, unless you have their permission. If you do not have permission to copy an obituary to a memorial, you may put a note stating the name of the newspaper and the date the obituary was published.
Please do NOT add photographs from obituary notices (unless you, personally took the photo), as they are protected by copyright law. Find A Grave reserves the right to remove obituary notices and photographs from memorial records. Similarly, you may NOT scan an obituary and add it as a photograph to a memorial record.
What we ask is that those who index and memorialize the deceased from newspapers and other 3rd party accounts do so with full respect of copyright, refrain from adding information about living people, and respond generously to the family of the deceased.
The material you were requested to add to his memorial is the exact funeral home text.

Thank you so much for responding to my inquiry regarding George C. Cassell.
I have linked the memorial for George to the memorial of his son David.
By chance do you know where Virginia is buried?
Thank you again for all your help.
May you have a wonderful day in Our Blessed Lord,

You are always so kind. We seem to have a lot of memorials that are the same. There also seem to be more duplicates than there used to be. I always try to suggest to the other contributor to contact you and get them merged. You always have more info.
Talk to you later and have a great day adn thanks for everything.

I know how that goes. I was adding info to one today and all of a sudden before I proofed it, it just quit, then had to shut down and do virus checks and maintenance. I could get so much more done if it wasn't for scammers and people that have nothing to do but try and steal info on the internet. It's makes me so mad. Sorry about your computer problems. I know you are great about responding. I never worry about you. I know you will get to edits as soon as you can. Take care friend.
Hi, I am totally stumped, hit a brick wall, can't find my ancestors. The family name is Wright, from my ggrandmother Georgia Ann Wright, b. 1864 Tennessee, married Minor C. Welch from Tallapoosa, Al; they are on the 1880 census there, then she shows up with him first in the Chickasaw Territory I.T. and then Bryan,Comanche,OK. They are both buried in Llano Cemetery, Amarillo Randall TX. I am looking for Georgia Ann Wright's family. Any connections to your Wrights of Oklahoma?
