I am an amateur genealogist. I moved to Oakland, CA about 20 years ago and nearly all of my roots are in North Carolina. As someone who is doing research 3,000 miles from my target area, my success relies on others who have who have been kind enough to enter records online. Working with Find A Grave is my way of giving back.|
I'm happy to take photos in Mountain View Cemetery and Chapel of the Chimes. These are fascinating (and beautiful!) historical sites.
GETTING LOCATION DETAILS. The sites are massive. Mountain View alone covers 226 acres, and it's just not feasible to search the entire cemetery. Please call to look up the grave location (there's a small charge for Mountain View lookups), and include it in your photo request. COTC: 510-654-0123. MV: 510-658-2588. (Please include ALL the info they give you - one plot may contain 1,000s of memorials, so the 2nd piece of information is very important.)
Apologies for reflections in Chapel of The Chimes images - most memorials are behind glass cases and the natural light is lovely, but hard on photos.
MEMORIAL TRANSFER: Related to someone I have added? Contact me, and I can transfer the memorial to your care. I feel it's important to add memorials to the public record before the stones weather away and details get lost - but my research time is limited. I'm happy to let others take the page to the next step if I can't.
PHOTO PERMISSIONS: It's ok to use my photos for genealogical or memorial purposes - but not for commercial purposes. If you upload images to another site, please include a photo credit. Thanks!

I appreciate the transfer of management for memorials for CM Dudley and his wife, Lonie.
I will take good care of them.

I went by the cemetery I mentioned to you on the other side of I-40. It is not an Eldridge cemetery; it is a Godwin cemetery. I'll keep looking, and let you know if I find any other Eldridge cemeteries.

My interest is also in public service. I have photographed all headstones I was able to find in plots 51, 48 and 64, and I also add interments when I find funeral notices or obits. Plot 48 has a lot of damaged and destroyed stones (copper tops on many are gone...so sad. I have started photographing in plot 4.

Where/how did you come by middle name of Julius?
Thank you, Sharon Folk

I visited the Eldridge family cemetery on Meadowbrook Road this week, and added a couple of new photos to the cemetery page. There were no new graves in the cemetery.
I don't know if you are related to the Eldriges, but I am hoping that you are. I was looking for a different Eldridge Family Cemetery in the same area, or at least in Meadow or Benson, called the Willie Eldridge cemetery. I think it should be very close to this cemetery, because the vague instructions I had led me to this cemetery. (Here are the directions; Maybe they will mean more to you if you ever lived in the area: On the farm of John Lee. Go to Meadow School, turn at crossroads. 1 mile later turn beside Paton Naylor's house onto a dirt path.) The following 6 people are supposed to be:
Name Birth Death
Eldridge, Infant 1925
Eldridge, Mattie 1882 1949
Eldridge, Nancy 1942 1928
Eldridge, W S 1898 1906
Eldridge, Wade H 1902 1950
Eldridge, Willie 1878 1929
Do you know where the Willie Eldridge cemetery is located or know sombody who might be able to help me locate that cemetery?
Thank you! good pictures.

Thank you so much for that photo! It actually got quite a few more names from that family, in the same place. You are wonderful!
