Bio and Links
Bio Photo I have always been interested in genealogy and loved walking through cemetery's. While doing my family tree I found this site.
My husband is a great help to me since my main cemetery interest is in Land Between the Lakes on the Southern end. People were forced out of the area by the government to make it a public recreation area. Most of the cemeteries in the area can be traced back to the 1800's. The cemeteries have been neglected and vandalized.
Interest in Briggs, Cox, Wilks, Amster,Purnell, Kent, Sykes,Sikes, Wofford, and Russell.

Any of my personal family photo's I have decided to share on this site are NOT to be downloaded for any reason.

If I take a photo for you, you don't need my permission to download it and use it however you see fit.

Thank you!

Love in Family
Purnell, Fred
I can't be sure but I believe he married Margaret around 1965 as her ssn record reflects a name change. Also there was a daughter, Helen R Purnell 1928-1955 to Ruth and Fred. I am not related, however have access to ancestry and a few Cook county records. Both confirm fred's dates and parents.

Thank you for the correction to Elizabeth's country of birth!
Do you happen to know what her maiden name was?

Best regards,

Wally S.

Old Aurora City Cemetery
Was talking to Mr. Terry Ash @ Maple Park cemetery office today. He informed me that when the City Hall burned down in 1906 or 1909 or something the records were lost. So the actual location of many of the 'guests' is questionable. This is one reason why they no longer bury people there. Over the years, various people have attempted to make records of the place, so much of what he has is from piecing together 2 or 3 records. Accidents, weathering, and vandals have taken their toll on the place, too. I just found out (the day I Photoed Mr. Wilks) I was actually touching the (broken) headstone of someone else I was looking for but it was unreadable. Mr. Ash said today that it was the one NEXT to "Polly". I remembered Polly & remembered trying to read the broken stone. Since the one on the other side of Polly was mostly OK, it has to be the broken one. Now just waiting on weather to clear.
