Andrew Hampton 1st

Rather than the son...The age of Catherine is 1730 and certainly not his Mother

Thanks for the heads up about the dup. I contacted them to remove, but they probably will not. Their are many who will not. Thanks again, regards.

RE: Gray Briggs
No sir, can't say that I have run across a Guy Briggs or a Gray Briggs. If I do, however, you will be the first to know!

That would be great to know more about his family, sir! I've just been doing research on local Confederate vets and compiling a list, so any extra info always helps! Thanks for your work on here.

I surveyed Old Garland myself in 2005. Bridget is there, #112.

Anything I have ever read says that Ezekiel Sr's burial place is unknown. The memorial plaque in John W Bailey was likely placed there because Ezdekiel JR is there, and it's a cemetery close to where Senior lived.

But casual visitors glance at the plaque and assume that Senior is there. I still believe that he was buried atop some hill on his property, marked only by a rock or a wooden cross, now lost to the forest.

My line is through Senior's daughter Dorothy, who married James Mashburn. Their burial sites are also unknown, probably in McDowell County, down the escarpment from Little Switzerland.

Andrew Hampton
"Ezekiel Hampton, Sr. has been thought to be son of the Revolutionary War Patriot, Col. Andrew Hampton, buried in Rutherfordton, Rutherford County, N.C. Evidence now suggests Ezekiel was the son of that Andrew's cousin Andrew who lived in Granville County, then moved to Georgia. Granville Co. is on the far northern border with Virginia, while Tryon/Rutherford Co. is in the far south-western border with SC."
This issue is not going away anytime soon, as evidenced by some of the family trees on The "Hulet MacDaniel Baker and Winona Fancion Wood" Tree, is but one of those examples.
The owner of that tree lists Andrew from Granville Co. as the father, then goes on to state that Ezekiel was the son of both Sarah Kuykendall and Catherine Hyder. She lists 21 children for Catherine and 3 for Sarah, with Ezekiel being listed twice. Doesn't sound like an exploration that I will be going on anytime soon.

RE: Ezekiel Hampton, Sr
You are suggesting that he be listed as cremated, ashes scattered, body donated etc.? That is not the equivalent of a CENOTAPH. His remains are elsewhere, so the cenotaph is the only correct choice. If that is not a logical selection for you, then I can make it happen on my own. It's really not a complicated procedure to follow through with and it's the right thing to do.

Well, there is a rule against "Unknown" burials after a certain amount of time. Cenotaph would be ideal, but I do not know how to do it. It is doable, of course. I gather that you are also a direct descendant?
