Thom Family
The grave stones are spelled correctly the family's surname was/is Thom in the area. That is how they spelled it and used it for generations. Please look at the history book biographies and the photos of the store they ran in Rushmore that I emailed. Like the grave stones, they are spelled Thom not Thomas. Please return the memorials to the name they were known by locally.

RE: FAG Headstone Photo
The Thom family is a large one from Rushmore area. There has been a family history completed on this Thom family. I will have to look to see who completed it but they are still active with the Historical Society as members and sending in artifacts from their family.

RE: Info Additions that you Declined & your Turning me down for Maintenance Control also?
The only ones I see from you that I declined was the double name for Eliza Slocumb.. The reply I got from Find a Grave and sent to you, should have shown you that double surnames are not acceptable. I also turned down several corrections you sent to change Vaughn to Yaughan. Vaughn is the correct spelling of the name. Eliza Slocumb is my gt gt grandmother, Permilia Vaughn's half sister. Eliza's mother Elizabeth is my gt gt gt grandmother. I have documents with the last name on them spelled Vaughn.

Hello Richard,

Thank you for contacting Find A Grave in regards to multiple last names.

When a person has more than one last name, we ask that only the last name on the headstone be the last name placed in the last name field. Then in the bio section place all of the lasts names in order, for example in Jane Smith marries John James and then Joseph Brown and Brown is the name on the stone, then the name on top of the headstone would read Jane Smith Brown and in the Bio section would look like Jane Smith James Brown.

If you need additional assistance, please feel free to reply to this message.

RE: Info Additions that you Declined?
I went to one of your added memorials for Ronald Duane Levy-Stevens and tried to search for him using your combined surname and also individual surname and nothing comes up on any of them. The one for Charlotte Bagby shows her surname so that is also the way the cemetery would registers her. I forgot about that one with the three last names. I tried to get the manager to change it to one name a long time ago. Find A Grave Memorial# 95052340. I also tried to search for her under each individual name but nothing comes up unless I enter the three names exactly as they are on the memorial with no hyphens. What are the chances a searcher would know the exact three names and the order to enter them in order to find the memorial? The Bio takes care of all the relationships showing past marriages and family.

RE: Info Additions that you Declined?
I have never seen a hyphenated entry of two surnames of Find a Grave. I wouldn't think the search engine would be able to recognize two names put together. Even so, if they search Nelson or Slocumb in this case, they would find links that connect her to both her husbands.
