Madison Park Cemetery
Hi Bob,

In 2001 LDS Ancestral File showed Stephen Jones buried in Woodlawn Cemetery. Originally someone I corresponded with told me that Woodlawn Cemetery had become a park.

A friend who researches a different family had gone to Quincy and was going find the physical location of Woodlawn Cemetery for me. He told me that Woodlawn had become Woodland Cemetery. That is why I had listed his memorial for Woodland Cemetery.

This is the first time I have heard of Madison Park. You are saying that Woodlawn became Madison Park?

Yesterday I had removed Stephen from Woodland Cemetery, and since there was no Woodlawn, I added that Cemetery.

If Woodlawn is Madison Park, I will move Stephen again.

Following is information I had found in Mormon Historical Studies: The Early Quincy Cemetery and Mormon Burials by Maurine Ward: "Jones, Stephen; 50/100, Quincy, died of pleurisy, Lot 11, Pottersfield, 27 Jan 1842." and "These cemetery records show that there were three distinct sections in the burial ground. The first is identified simply by lot number and north or south. The second area is called "Pottersfield," probably used for indigent burials. The third section is called "Strangers Ground.""

I thank you so much for your help in sorting this out. Are you related to Stephen Jones?
