Bio and Links
Bio Photo I am very much enjoying doing our family genealogy and learning about our family. The "Lemon" side, the "Eastman" side (my mother's) and the "Reid" side (my wife's). If anyone has any stories about our families I would love to see them.

I am working with Family Tree Maker 2014. I really enjoy working with this program. This project helps to keep my mind active. Originally from Galesburg, Michigan we now live in Lady Lake, Florida.

Connie and I have taken Genealogical trips researching our families and taking pictures of headstones in many cemeteries. We have been to Pennsylvania, Michigan, Ohio, & Canada recording cemeteries. If anyone has any further information or corrections please feel free to contact me so I can make this information as complete and correct as possible. If I know we have family members in a cemetery I usually take pictures of every legible, and some barely legible, headstones.

Please help me with corrections. If you have additional info or a correction to one or more of my memorials please use the edit button then suggest a correction on that memorial. Leaving me a message makes it harder to make that correction.

These trips have afforded us the pleasure of meeting many distant cousins and we even found the original "Lemon" house built in 1809 and still being lived in in Columbia County, Pennsylvania. I had the pleasure of talking with a man that had grown up in the house and could tell me many stories of its history.

A picture is worth a thousand words and for the most part I only post internments with a picture of the headstone. Consequently I don't always record every inscription on the headstone. It is already written in stone.

We don't take all these pictures as if we're in some sort of a contest. We do it so we can help other people researching for their family members. I much prefer having a picture of the headstone. It is my belief that in death the family is much more likely to record the proper/correct information. It is true that upon rare occasions an engraver will make a mistake but much less likely than a census taker. Census records are a good guide but some people are very lackadaisical in giving the correct information to the census taker or the census taker is only trying to earn a pay check and just writes down what he/she wants, the way he/she hears it and many times very unledgible.

Unfortunately, Connie passed away on February 12, 2011. I will carry on but researching is not the same without her help. I truly miss being able to use her as a sounding board for ideas and problems. We really enjoyed traveling and taking photos of cemeteries.

Family research can be an addiction, it is for me, but it can be very rewarding and is a great avenue for meeting and corresponding with many distant relatives. I wish everyone happy hunting in your research.

Submitting a SAC ("Suggest a Correction" on the Edit tab) is the ONLY way to give me the information I need for corrections or transfer requests. I will not make changes from public messages. Please don't make me turn off public messages. (Public messages don't have the necessary links to do changes efficiently.) I take a lot of time posting these memorials. I am only too happy to make changes when I make a mistake but most of the time these public messages don't have enough information and don't even tell me what cemetery the person is in. I'm an old man and have a severe case of CRS so I'm not going to try to find your memorial in error.

John and Eliza Rusling headstone
Greetings from Galesburg, Illinois. I have Rusling's in my tree, and several of them are buried in nearby Knoxville, Knox Co, Illinois. I am in the habit of posting the contributor of a headstone photo right on the picture before I post the picture to Ancestry.com and of course I would do the same with yours. I couldn't believe you came from Galesburg, Michigan. I know there is a small, small, town called Galesburg, Iowa (less than 500 people), but figured that was the only other Galesburg in the United States. I indeed stand corrected. Now I wonder how many other Galesburg's there are in the nation.
Request permission to post your Rusling photo on Ancestry.com Nancy Gawthrop

Your memorial is a duplicate of an earlier one: Find A Grave Memorial#28908921

Could you ensure that the Civil War marker is also on the other memorial. It is a really sharp picture.

Thank you

I added the note that you requested. Thank you for letting me know. I guess when I took the pic, I assumed he had passed and they had not gotten around to adding a date.
Thank you,
Sandy

Photos in Maplewood
Jim,
Did you happen to take photos in West Ida Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Ida? The 2 cemeteries are on either side of the church there. There are notes on both main pages of that cemetery and Maplewood to be careful which cemetery you are entering under. Otherwise, I don't have any idea how this is happening. This is definitely interesting though!
Thanks for your help in getting them where they belong. I'm trying to put in all I have in my notes for the Ott's in Maplewood right now. I have already found 1 in Maplewood that is also listed in West Ida Immanuel. It seems to be a rather confusing area. I've never been over there. Maybe next time I am back that way, my Mom and I'll go check it out.
Thanks again,
Shannon

Transfer Request
Could you transfer the memorials of Russell Tiffin Lemon and Clara Herr Lemon to me? They are my grandparents and it makes it easier to add family members to them.

Russell: #64920063
Clara: #64920144

Thank you. :)
