Please use the "EDIT" tab to ask for EACH transfer request.

The goal is not to "own" every memorial of those to whom you are related. The ultimate goal should be to have meaningful, accurate memorials that honor those who have passed away, regardless of who created the memorial or who maintains it.

****If you volunteer on this website and decide you no longer want to maintain the records please transfer your records to someone who has an active account and willing to take over the records. I am one of many willing to take over records. This really will help reduce duplicates. It would also be a good idea to leave someone instructions on how to do make these transfers should you go inactive without warning.***** Thank You (Borrowed from another FAG Contributor)

THE RECORDING OF A CEMETERY
By Thelma Greene Reagan

Today we walked where others walked
On a lonely, windswept hill;
Today we talked where other cried
For Loved Ones whose lives are stilled.

Today our hearts were touched
By graves of tiny babies;
Snatched from the arms of loving kin,
In the heartbreak of the ages.

Today we saw where the grandparents lay
In the last sleep of their time;
Lying under the trees and clouds -
Their beds kissed by the sun and wind.

Today we wondered about an unmarked spot;
Who lies beneath this hollowed ground?
Was it a babe, child, young or old?
No indication could be found.

Today we saw where Mom and Dad lay.
We had been here once before
On a day we'd all like to forget,
But will remember forever more.

Today we recorded for kith and kin
The graves of ancestors past;
To be preserved for generations hence,
A record we hope will last.

Cherish it, my friend; preserve it, my friend,
For stones sometimes crumble to dust
And generations of folks yet to come
Will be grateful for your trust.

"If you wonder about your 'roots' you have two parents, four grandparents eight great-grandparents and 16 great-great-grandparents, and by the time you go back 10 generations 300 years or so- you had 1,024 people from whom you are directly descended. --Mady Castro

RE: Vanburg Cemetery
I believe this cemetery is Vandenburg Cemetery in Evangeline Parish (but near Bunkie). There is a FindaGrave listing for it. There is also an outline survey of it at http://www.la-cemeteries.com/Transcriptions/Evangeline/VandenburgCemetery/Transcription.htm

Bertha Olive "Billie" Kellogg Arnett
Thank you for posting the obituary for Bertha Arnett and linking her to her parents. I have disconnected the link to the Lawrence Arnett in Memorial# 297710 Leavenworth National Cemetery, because he does not match the information for the Lawrence/Laurence that Bertha married: US Department of Veterans Affairs BIRLS Death File, 1850-2010:
Laurence Arnett
Birth: 12 Nov 1908 [Oklahoma]
Death: 13 Dec 1996
Military: 28 Dec 1942 Enlistment date
Other: 10 Dec 1945 Release date
Branch: ARMY
This service is during World War II, while the memorial# 297710 is for World War I. The 1896-1962 Lawrence was born in Missouri, and married/live at Fredericktown, Madison, Missouri.
I haven't been able to find where Lawrence 1908-1996 is buried, but I do know it is not Memorial# 297710.
Bertha Kellogg Arnett is my 1st cousin once removed. Thanks again.
