THE RECORDING OF A CEMETERY |
BY THELMA GREENE REAGAN
Today we walked where others walked
On a lonely, windswept hill;
Today we talked where others cried
For Loved Ones whose lives are stilled.
Today our hearts were touched
By graves of tiny babies;
Snatched from the arms of loving kin,
In the heartbreak of the ages.
Today we saw where the grandparents lay
In the last sleep of their time;
Lying under the trees and clouds -
Their beds kissed by the sun and wind.
Today we wondered about an unmarked spot;
Who lies beneath this hallowed ground?
Was it a babe, child, young or old?
No indication could be found.
Today we saw where Mom and Dad lay.
We had been here once before
On a day we'd all like to forget,
But will remember forever more.
Today we recorded for kith and kin
The graves of ancestors past;
To be preserved for generations hence,
A record we hope will last.
Cherish it, my friend; preserve it, my friend,
For stones sometimes crumble to dust
And generations of folks yet to come
Will be grateful for your trust.

|CG||Charles Lindsey [Lindsey Family Cemetery]..more|
Hi. I was able to reach Anna Ranch. I was told that the Lindsey family takes care of the adjoining cemetery, and the ranch office will search for a contact for me if available. She said that not too long ago (more recently than 2004) the ranch was contacted regarding having a burial at the cemetery for Charles, but since the cemetery is not taken care of by them, the person was referred to the Lindsey family.
I also checked with the Annunciation Catholic Church (from the obit info), and their records indicate burial at "Lindsey Cemetery".
If I hear anything more, I'll let you know.

Hi, today I searched the Lindsey Family Cemetery in Kamuela. I posted this on the photo request link,"Someone previously searched the cemetery 4 years ago and they could not locate a marked grave for Charles Lindsey. I checked in Aug 2016, and there still is no marked grave for Charles in this very small cemetery." I did not close the photo request, I'll leave it up to you to decide if you want to do so.

Aloha e Leilani,
I just posted pages for Harry & Harriet... transferred Harry to you because I saw that you had posted a page for another person with that same last name so Iʻm thinking Harry is ʻohana... is Harriet your ʻohana, too? They are buried right next to each other... so sad to lose babies... if she is ʻohana I will transfer to you... let me know...

Yes, he was my uncle. My dad's eldest brother.

My pleasure. They're in my family tree too.

Yes, be my guest; use my photos as you see fit. I post 'em to be used, and identifying me as the photographer - one way or the other - isn't a concern. I just wish they could have all been masterpieces, but that's certainly not the case.
By the way, I haven't seen Edward Kau at Makiki, but I'll keep looking as I continue photographing there. David.

You may use my pictures without my name attached.
