I have been researching my family for about 3 years now and I have found great information. |
Paternal Grandparents: Chester Lee Kerley and Emma Gertrude Ragsdale
Maternal Grandparents: Willie Mitchell Brannen and Blanche Williams
Dad's Paternal Grandparents: John Amzy Kerley and Elizabeth Missouri Harris
Dad's Maternal Grandparents: James Henry Ragsdale and Omie Elizabeth Terry
Mom's Paternal Grandparents: Edmon Whaley Brannen and Mary Elizabeth "Mollie" Hendrix
Mom's Maternal Grandparents: Richard Fred "Fed" Williams and Annie Minerva Jones
Thanks to Google's News Archives, I was able to find my great grandfather John Amzy Kerley's obit. It was listed in the Free Lance-Star from November 3, 1952. It stated that he had passed away that day and I was able to give my father the information he has sought for so long.

I also just remembered that in addition the siblings you just listed, there was also another older half brother from John's frist wife named William Aaron Ragsdale.

Thanks for the response. Your response on middle names for James Henry's siblings is quite helpful because I only had initials for some of them. Ransom Marion Ragsdale was my great grandfather. From other records I have penned down the likely time of death for John William Ragsdale to between 1910 and 1917 in either Cass or Morris counties and am planning to dig around in some newspaper archives at some future point to see if I can locate an obituary. I would be interested in the obituary you have for Ella Ragsdale. My email address is email@example.com

I am searching for the gravestone (or any sort of death record) of my great-great grandfather John William Ragsdale. I believe James Henry Ragsdale was his son. I was curious if you have any idea where such a record might be. I believe he died between 1910 and 1917 in the vicinity of Cass or Morris Counties.

Hi Michael, if I have figured it correctly your great-grandmother Elizabeth Missouri Harris Kerley Ryburn was the daughter of my 2nd great grand uncle Jayson Johnson Harris and his first wife Estella May Landers and that is why I left the flower on her memorial. :)
Jayson's sister Nora was my great, great grandmother and they were both children of James C. Harris & Rachel Elizabeth Adaline Rutherford. Does any of this sound familar?
