Which Jaffray? Yes I live in the area.

I think I found it, you are correct, she was his second wife - don't think she's in Protection, though.

Good thought on it being his Father - I wish I knew what the correct dates were.
yes, you are helping - do you mind if I continue to send you questions? Sometimes 2 heads are better than one!

I can share what I have found. All my tree info is on Ancestry.com, but I can scan printouts and send them to your e-mail. Mine is email@example.com

I am SOOO glad you found this!
As I am going through the records, I am first adding the ones we have photos of, but as I am going along, I am looking at the names we DON'T have pix of (to see what I am up against once i get the "easy" stuff done).
I had just looked at a "Mary Sleeper" who is listed in the records in Old Section, Lot 30, Grave 2. I assumed it might be Jonas Sleeper's wife, Mary, but the record states that she died in 1869, and that doesn't add up.
I have been having TONS of problems with these records because much of what they gave me is a combination of the original records and a survey that the Boy Scouts did. Unfortunately, the Boy Scouts weren't too accurate - which I can prove on burials where I have a photo to look at - but, in a case like this, I have no idea if the Boy Scouts wrote it down wrong or if the date is accurate and I need to find another "Mary Sleeper" who died in 1869.
Considering you have the obit, and the grave which contains a "Mary Sleeper" is right next to Jonas, I an inclined to believe that this Jonas' wife, Mary and that the Boy Scouts got it wrong. Do you agree? I so want to get this right!
By the way, have you come across a John Sleeper? He is in Grave 3, there is a coffin (so we know there is definatley someone buried there - yes sometimes there's a name on the records, but no one in the grave). The record, unreliable as it may be on the date, says he died in 1883.

I think you can delete the msg just by clicking the "x" in the upper right corner of the box where the msg appears.
You talk as if you have been to the downtown library - are you from around here?
If you are, you may want to make a trip to Holland - I think you'd find lots!
|Chris G.||RE: Aaron Whitney|
Yes I agree - so I put Aaron's Birthdate as 1800, but his death & burial doesn't match your dates. Also, his wife Matilda is in the Michigan Death Records and also showing up in a Census living in Michigan before she died with her son Oscar B.
Do you have a actual record of Aaron's birth for the date you submitted?
The Caswell's (Timothy & Mercy) are my husband's 5th Great Grandparent's. Since Find A Grave is linked to Ancestry.com, I'm just trying to get my
record's and research in order.

No problem and thanks for your help updating! Haven't gotten to any of "your" surnames yet, but hope to soon.
PS - hope your "away time" is at least somewhere fun - and warm brrrrr - 30's here in Buffalo!
Lisa, thanks for the Mumford transfers. I appreciate you setting up their memorials...without that I wouldn't have found them. Thanks again!
