I've been doing genealogy and family history work for twenty plus years, ever since I was a young Boy Scout. My dad's early research really was the inspiration for me to continue, and I have enjoyed researching the history of my family as well as the time periods my ancestors lived.
I believe this site is an excellent way for me to share some of the research that I have done with others. Likewise, if I can help a distant cousin locate a photograph of a tombstone, I can give back to the genealogical community. So many others have helped me throughout the years, and this is my chance to give back.
While my goal would be to include photographs of as many tombstones of my ancestors/relatives that I can find, I have also recently began walking cemeteries near work on my lunch hour, and am posting them here.
One more thing about Lydia and Edmund P.S. In the family bible, aside of noting when Lydia died, and using her married name of Pierce, no other mention is made of her marriage and no mention is made of her husband, Edmund.
Family Search has a record of Lydia’s marriage to Edmund George Pierce 19 Oct 1858
Although I haven’t researched him, other sources have listed Edmund’s parents as: Steven Francis Pierce 1806–1881 BIRTH 6 FEB 1806 • Vermont, USA DEATH 5 APR 1881 • Greensfork, Wayne, Indiana, USA and Rebecca Page 1806–1893 BIRTH 18 AUG 1806 • New Jersey, USA DEATH 26 JUN 1893
I’ve attached some records, and sent edits regarding her birth and family, to Lydia’s Find A Grave Memorial# 9257485
I see you have a photo request for John Groenendyke in Haven's Chapel Cemetery, Fayette Co, IN. I've determined through death notices in Connersville, IN newspapers that Haven's Chapel Cemetery is actually in Wayne Co and is more commonly known as Valley Grove Cemetery. Please check memorial #119680850 in Valley Grove Cemetery and you'll find the John Groenendyke photo you're looking for.
