I grew up in Waverly, Iowa & moved with my family down to Leavenworth, Kansas in 1993. I am a May 2008 graduate of Kansas State University and was actively involved with the marching band. I'm a huge fan of Kansas State football and hold season tickets. |
One of my biggest interests is in Genealogy and I absolutely love History so its a perfect pairing. I'm fascinated with family histories.
Family names I'm interested in:
Bergman (in IA)
Brandt/Lampe (in IA)
Halweg/Friedrich (in IA)
Tjebkes (in IA)
Stelzer (in IA and MN)
Bohner (in IA and PA)
As for the photos I take for Find A Grave, if you would like me to transfer any memorials to you I would be more than happy to oblige as I am not interested in stacking up numbers for memorials managed. I think those that have that mindset are very rude people. The only memorials I will not transfer are those for my own family unless very distantly related.
Also, if you would like a copy of the original photos posted to memorials please let me know as I am more than happy to send them to you.
CREATED MEMORIALS NOTE:
I will sometimes photograph other plot markers near the graves where I am fulfilling photo requests. If they have no memorial I create one for them and attempt to give them a story based on what I find on ancestry.com.
If at any point you come across a memorial I've created for your ancestor and I have added information you DO NOT want on their memorial, please do not hesitate to let me know and I will gladly remove it. The same applies if there is something that you DO want added to their memorial.
If I have included an obituary on any memorial page and you would like a clipping from the actual newspaper please let me know and I will accomodate.
If I have added something you wish to be removed PLEASE BE NICE ABOUT IT when letting me know as I am not trying to upset anyone. I don't wish to be scolded like a child.
I have cemetery maps for:
Howard Cemetery (Elma, IA)
Maple Leaf Cemetery (Elma, IA)
Mount Muncie Cemetery (Leavenworth, KS)
- sections 15, 10, 22, 26, 34, 35, & 36
Mount Calvary Cemetery (Leavenworth, KS)
- sections 1, 2, 4, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19
- full cemetery

Hi Shannon, Thank you very much for looking back on your records and finding James death dates. That was very helpful to me. I am trying to find all the lost relatives. My Great Grandfather left Kansas and family and never looked back. I am just learning about my Kansas relatives. Thanks for your kindness, Jen

That was quick work, Shannon!
FWIW, I'm no known relation to the Eharts. While researching a shirttail relative, I came across her Leavenworth Times obit. It was too good to pass up...
As a fourth generation Leavenworth native, no longer living there, I'm still irresistibly fascinated by Leavenworth & Kansas history. So, I hope you don't mind me trying to bring new life to some of these old Leavenworth graves.
Thanks for your fine work!

Hi Shannon, I am okay with the photo of only the grave site of the Smith's. I left a note that this was the site only and no marker. Was disappointed the family had never had a marker placed. I was looking for the death date on James O. Smith. If you see any records of their burial and they have dates could you let me know. I appreciate your effort in locating the site of Lizzie and James O Smith. Thank you very much, Jen

Dear Shannon, thank you so very much for the photo. She was my aunt. Robert W. Day was her 2nd husband (still living), and she was his 2nd wife. Dorothy Day was Robert's 1st wife, called "Dottie". Thank you for creating more memorials. I don't know a lot of information on his family, but will try to find out to help. Ruth Eloise Day is the full name & she was known as Eloise. Thank you again for your kindness. Jenifer Jones
