Bio and Links
Bio Photo I am interested in researching JETT/GARRISON families mainly in Iowa/Tennessee/Oklahoma/Missouri/Arkansas/Texas and Virginia and Murphy/Organ/Gorvin families

I WOULD BE HAPPY TO TRANSFER ANY MEMORIAL! Just ask

"Dear Ancestor"

Your tombstone stands among the rest;
Neglected and alone.
The name and date are chiseled out
On polished, marbled stone.

It reaches out to all who care
It is too late to mourn.
You did not know that I exist
You died and I was born.

Yet each of us are cells of you
In flesh, in blood, in bone.
Our blood contracts and beats a pulse
Entirely not our own.

Dear Ancestor, the place you filled
One hundred years ago
Spreads out among the ones you left
Who would have loved you so.

I wonder if you lived and loved,
I wonder if you knew
That someday I would find this spot,
And come to visit you.

John Wolfe Jett # 55017150
Bobby, I know Bud Phillips of Bristol (historian) has written of John being a cadet in the New Market Battle and perhaps family stories run that line..but it is untrue. John didn't enter the VMI until 1868. His pension papers say he was with John Hunt Morgans Kentucky regiment , papers filed by Louisa Stoffell his spouse.
Even the VMI does not list him as a New Market Cadet.
You should correct his bio---

RE: Livingston Cemetery
Thank you for responding so quickly. So sorry to hear that the cemetery is not being taken care of.
I will do as you suggest to call Mr Wolfe.
Again, thanks for your help.

Livingston Cemetery
I am a descendant of Peter and Elizabeth Livingston. I am making a genealogy road trip in May 2014 and would like to visit the cemetery. Someone told me several years ago that it is on private property and open only on weekends. Is this still the situation? Can the markers be seen from the road to get photos with telephoto lens?
Will be there probably May 22, 2014. Would appreciate any info you can give on being able to see my ancestors markers. Thank you.

4. I am not related to Hormels. I am related to Homer A. Bear of MN. The A. J. Bear family [brother of Homer] moved to Florida in 1895. Homer went to FL and married a couple of times and then both he and A.J. ended up in Peoria IL.
Homer Bear's first wife was Edith May Hormel.

RE: Oxford Cemetery
I don't know off the top of my head but I bet someone at Lensings or Ciha's would know. Or whatever funeral home covers the Oxford area.

Please move photo...
Hello Bobby -

The photo which you have placed on memorial # 25368648 for James VanMeter (1815-____) is actually the photo of the stone for his son, James VanMeter (1843-1894) Memorial # 19783127.
Please delete it from the father's memorial and place it on his son's memorial# 19783127.

Thank you for making this correction and for all your work on Find A Grave.

-Jane
