|My passion for genealogy began in 1993 at a family reunion, where a distant relative gave me a giant scroll with a hand-written family tree listing all my "Alcorn" roots from Western Pennsylvania. Since then I have traced the Alcorns, Barbers, Spencers, Ketterings, Stauffers, and Halbsteins. among several other families. |
Sadly, what I have learned has been of intolerance and prejudice, famine and poverty. The Stauffers were Swiss Mennonites who were chased from Switzerland and then Germany in the 18th century because of their religious beliefs; the same story is told about the Halbsteins and Hershoffs who escaped the pogroms of Russia during the early 20th century. - but what I have also learned is how rich this country's heritage has been - how this has truly been the land of opportunity. It is fascinating to me to learn of how and why these families took the dangerous journey to America, where they settled, where they migrated, and how they lived.
It is my pleasure to be a Find A Grave volunteer photographer; this gives me insight into the families who lived and died in my community before me. We recently moved to Rochester, NY, and FindAGrave is my introduction to the history of the fabric of this city.

First, Than you for the wonderful photo of the marker for Susan Pratt's monument ! It is wonderful.
Second, I have added a memorial for her husband, Harry Pratt. It's memorial number is 167387502
Would you please add the photo you have placed on Susan's memorial page to Harry's memorial page? Thank you for your consideration.

Thanks that would be wonderful. I've started some cleaning requests of the dupes. Headstone photos will surely help. I've made some official requests as permitted (sometimes I max out)

Thanks so much for the message. I'm trying to straighten out the Seilers that are out there. Seems someone was doing some guessing on people and dates and didn't check to see if the memorials existed. I usually can get them cleared up once a photo comes in. I have notified the duplicate memorial holder and left a flower pointing to the correct one. If you are so inclined, I'd love to resolve the other Seilers out there. Many are just listed as "Seiler" so maybe children but photos always help. I wish I had had someone pass me a scroll of a family tree! Wow. I keep looking for my connections, mostly in PA but Sailor/Seiler/Saylor's are everywhere! An interesting bunch.

Thanks for taking the above photograph. May I ask that you attach it to Edward Louis Frederick Piotter as well, 149778153?
I put in a request so that you will get credit.
