Bio and Links
Bio Photo We became somewhat interested in our own family history over the last couple of years and both of us recently retired. We initially thought doing pictures for Find A Grave would be a minor hobby to enjoy now and then however, it has become quite important to us over time. It gives us great pleasure whenever we are able to help someone find links in their family. Also, just being able to document many of the gravesites is fulfilling. We don't think anyone wants to die and be forgotten. By entering information in Find A Grave, it allows everyone a little infamy.

COLL McALESTER Sr. Headstone
Thank you for posting the photo of the headstone of COLL MCALESTER, SR (McAllister) in the Family Cemetery in Buies Creek, NC.

When you photographed it, did you try to transcribe any other markings or writings on the stone? Did it appear that there was anything other than his name on the stone?

Do you have an address in Buies Creek where this cemetery is located?

Thank you,
Karen Milner Freeman

Bryd Grave stone
Thank you so much for taking a picture of the stone of my Grandparents Oscar and Thelma Byrd.
I live in Texas and don't get a chance to go to NC often. I have just started working on my family history. I lived with my grandparents for many years and it is comforting to know that they have not been forgotten. Thank you for your time and effort.

I just want to thank you so much for taking the photo of my mother's grave and uploading it to Find-a-grave. It is very touching to see it there. She is buried next to my dad who died in 1960. My mother met my father, Archie Kimball, in London, England, during WWII and was on the first ship of warbrides that came over to America after the war. It is comforting to know they are together again in a such a peaceful, tranquil spot. And like you , I think everyone should be remembered in some way...thanks again.

RE: Denning Family Cemetery, Coats
New photos of every stone are required as Find a Grave rules (see the FAQ) strictly prohibit use of shaving cream as it damages gravestones. I suspect a reflector (mirror or shiny auto shade) will be needed to get some of the inscriptions. We also need a cover photo of the cemetery, and confirmation as to whether all of those listed are correctly placed in this cemetery (possibly two cemeteries have been incorrectly merged). Thanks so much for your help!
