I have lived just outside of Monroe, Washington for most of my life and have had a lifelong interest in history. As a volunteer with the Monroe Historical Society I took it upon myself some years ago to update and make available records of the local cemetery. If you have old photos of the Monroe area we would love to have a copy or scan, as well as any history you may have heard.I will gladly transfer a memorial IF it very closely follows the Find-A-Grave guidelines (read them if not sure). My interest is in maintaining the memorials for all to access.

RE: Harriet L Burgett
Thank you so much for this information, Dexter! There is a lot of info on Harriet and her family which will help me out in my genealogy searches. May I use the pictures from her Find A Grave page? They would be used in my info. Many thanks, again!

Harriet L Burgett

Harriett Burgett was my great grandmother. I see from her Find A Grave Memorial# 66358415 page her exact birth and death dates are listed. Could you tell me what your source was for these dates? I haven't been able to find out much about her, so I appreciate the information!

Thank you!

RE: Hanna Welk
Yes, indeed. Thanks for doing that and adding the obit, Dexter.

Hope you are enjoying your day!

Kind regards,

re: Hanna Welk
Debbie, tweeked obit you sent for Hanna just a little as Find A Grave asks that we not put names of living online.

RE: Emma Jones Bradburn
I really appreciate your diligence in asking this before you make the connection.

Yes, Emma was married to Harvey Montgomery Lord (1900 - 1929) in 1919 and bore him 4 children: Stella Lord Jordan (1922 - 1991 didn't find a Find A Grave for her although her husband is in the IOOF cemetery as shown on Find A Grave #74198163), Galvin Lord (1923 - 1998 Find A Grave #79476292), Helen Lord Slusher (1926 - 2007 Find A Grave #78774851), and Elaine Lord Braa Jones (1927 - 2004 Find A Grave #74197708) As you can see, their father died when they were quite young, so the children became very close to their step-father and used his last name frequently while they were growing up and in school. Unfortunately, I do not have an exact place of burial for Harvey, so I was unable to make a connection between him and Emma. Perhaps you could also add a note on her bio page.

To introduce myself, my daughter married into the Slusher family and was personally acquainted with Helen Lord Slusher and Galvin Lord.

Kathleen (Costello)(Furr) Moffat
Yes, records can be elusive. Great research BTW. I envy the Washington newspaper database you have available.

I have requested memorial links to two of her children, but never found the grave of the youngest Hugh Holmes Furr who died in Napa, CA in Apr 1979.

I wondered if Nora Agatha Durning was a sister to Kathleen. On her husband, Charles' naturalization paperwork, she was listed as born in Tipperary, Ireland. They were witnesses to Kathleen and John E Furr's marriage in 1912. No memorials found for her or Charles either. Charles still worked as a waiter on a cruise ship at the age of 82.

The family trees for John E Furr all indicate that he died in Montana but, no, there were no memorials found. He was in the Army in 1898 to 1900, perhaps he is in some military cemetery somewhere? I did find a 1929 City Directory for Ellensburg, WA (Kittitas) where Kathleen Furr is listed as ("wid John E") works at beauty shop.

Again, not in my family tree but thanks for helping to give them a story.

RE: walter bissons
Or maybe, because there is enough space with no markers between the youngest Walter Bisson and the next marker over, do you think there's a chance that both his mother Eva and grandmother Anne are with him?

RE: transfers
Hi Dexter,

Nice to hear from you. You know, I wish that the few wouldn't change it for the rest; like so many other things in life. For the first couple of years I didn't abide by Find A Grave's four generation rule, as time went by, certain people helped me see why it is important. I make exceptions, but rarely now. I enjoy this website very much and most people are great to work with. I hope you're enjoying it as much as I am.

Annie :)

RE: walter bissons
Oops. Forgot this part. I am also wondering what may be known about Eva Hogal Bisson, Walter Stewart Bisson's wife and mother of the youngest Walter per the record. She passed away in Snohomish in 1939 per State Archives. Maybe she is with the son and without a marker? Or did I miss her name when looking at your book with Sis?
