My husband and I enjoy finding monuments for other people and am extremely grateful to the volunteers who have found my own people for me. We've been working on finding the little pioneer cemeteries in the area and putting their inhabitants online. Four of our memorial pages even helped to catch a gravestone thief. Cemeteries are extremely vulnerable to vandalism, theft, and the damage of time and weather. We appreciate all of the volunteers out there who are working so hard to document them before they are lost to history. Lately we're working hard to upload GPS coordinates with the Findagrave App-- WE LOVE IT!|

Please note that I adhere to Findagrave policy, whether or not you may agree with it:
◊Find A Grave's primary purpose is a graves registration website.
◊Find A Grave's secondary purpose is a memorialization/remembrance site.
◊Find A Grave's tertiary purpose is a genealogical resource.
If a listing or contribution corresponds with only the primary purpose, it has fulfilled its part of Find A Grave's mission and is not required to correspond with the secondary and tertiary purposes. Fulfilling the other two is welcomed, encouraged and deeply appreciated, but as far as Find A Grave's purpose goes, a memorial page isn't lacking if it does not.
Transfers are only made within the guidelines set up by Find A Grave. These guidelines are in place for a reason - whether one cares to accept them or not. I am not going to debate what the owner has deemed acceptable for his site with members who choose not to agree with the guidelines. "The ultimate goal should be to have meaningful, accurate memorials that honor those who have passed away, regardless of who created the memorial or who maintains it." I am willing to consider transferring ownership to you if you have a close family member among my records. I rarely transfer relationships more distant than first cousin... just having someone "in my family tree" or "a relative" will not elicit a transfer.
If you want information added to a memorial, go to the memorial and use the "Edit" tab to send me the information-- including family links. I will add information to the memorial, I do not transfer just because someone wants to add links or other information. Bottom line: what are you planning on doing with the entry that I haven't already done or am unable to do?
I may not transfer to you if the number of memorials that you manage is significantly greater than the number that you have contributed. Also, I hesitate to transfer memorials to those who do sloppy work, so emails laden with misspellings or other inaccuracies generally are ignored. Bad spelling is a pet peeve of mine.
On the other hand, I will always transfer if a memorial is sponsored. And if you upload family photos or in some other way add value to the memorial, I am much more willing to transfer.
I welcome all corrections to my own work. Some records were imported using OCR so have inevitable errors, both from the original records and from machine interpretation. I am only human and make mistakes, too, but will always make it priority to correct them.

|Yolli||Jane Geasser Stryker|
Hello Carrie and Allen,
I just have a quick question in regards to memorial #31582310 for Jane Geasser Stryker. The date listed on her Find a Grave page says "April 26, 1856" but the stone reads 1836. Could this be a typo or OCR mistake? However, the reason why I am asking is because the 1856 date actually corresponds to the death date given in The Stryker Family in America book vol. 1, and this book has a lot of great research behind it. So basically...I'm wondering if maybe there was a transcription mistake in the book and her death date should actually read 1836. Maybe you have some insight into this mystery??? Where did you get the 1856 date? I didn't want to send an edit because I'm not sure this is as straightforward, because of the published material surrounding Jane, as it first appears. Thank you for your time and I hope this message isn't too confusing.

Thank you so very much, Carrie & Allen, for your help and for the transfers! I am beyond delighted with both! Especially since the above named are also found in Renegade Cemetery which, when I google it, I find a small note on the Small Cemeteries Town of Warren, Herkimer, NY, under Helmer Cemetery it says Kingdom Road, 1980 - Renegade Farm, Charles & Gerry Manning, who I assume are the owners of the farm. So it looks like one place is known by 3 different names and all 3 are posted on find a grave... Renegade Cemetery, Helmer Cemetery & Helmer-Harter Cemetery! Thank you so much for letting find a grave know about this confusion... a perfect example of find a grave members working to help each other. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!! One other question... how does one find out when find a grave has made the corrections?
|Lynda Puakea||Harter Family|
Hi again... and I canʻt believe this, but I just found Henry (new # 61934938) & Catherine (Piper)(new # 44026157) Harter buried at yet another cemetery! Along with their son, Philip H Harter (#37403735 or 44026718) & his wife, Catherine Philips Harter (#37403769 or 44026123). So far I have all 4 of them buried at Helmer Cemetery in Jordanville, now I also have all 4 of them at Helmer-Harter Cemetery in Warren... both cemeteries are in Herkimer County. Plus a daughter of Philip H & Catherine, Anna Margaret Harter Helmer (# 37403805) is listed at Helmer Cemetery, Jordanville; there is an Anna Margaret Bellinger Helmer at Helmer-Harter Cemetery with the same birth & death dates but different parents! Oh, my!!!
Is it possible that these cemeteries are the same place but for some reason known by different names? Even tho they are listed under different towns? This is a real puzzle and I donʻt know where else to turn... any suggestions or help in figuring this out will be greatly appreciated. I live in Hawaiʻi so I canʻt just ʻdrop in". : ) Perhaps I should contact the Historical Society in Herkimer? Do they have accurate burial records for the county? If they donʻt, who does?
Thank you, thank you so much....

Hi Carrie & Allen,
I come to you for some help... I just found your pages for my 6X great grandparents, Henry (#37403691) & Catherine (Piper)(#37403714) Harter... thank you for posting that. But, hereʻs the rub... there are 2 other pages that are supposed to be them also... at Renegade Farm Cemetery, Herkimer County, listed as Capt. Heinrich Herder and Catharina (Hatch) (Piper) Herder. The birth & death dates are the same. These pages include a photo of a gravestone for each and were posted by another Find A Grave member who also happens to be a descendant of Henry & Catherine. Would you be so kind as to share with me where you got your information on their graves in Helmer Cemetery in Jordanville? I would just like to know for sure where they are buried. I am a member of the DAR through their son in law, Michael Myers, and just submitted a supplemental application for Henry. Thank you very much for your help in sorting this out... I have listed photo requests for all the Harterʻs buried in Helmer Cemetery.

Hello, thank you for adding Ann Sophia. She is my greatgrandaunt. I have quite a bit of information about her. I would like to manage her memorial. You may check my tree at highroad2 on ancestry. Thanks again.
Thank you for the posting of the article on Huston Grant's lightening strike.
