SUMMER AND FALL 2015 MESSAE:|
We recently moved too Salem, Oregon, so are behind on our edits. But we will get to yours as soon as we can! Sorry for any delay.
My husband and I enjoy finding monuments for other people and am extremely grateful to the volunteers who have found my own people for me. We've been working on finding the little pioneer cemeteries in the area and putting their inhabitants online. Four of our memorial pages even helped to catch a gravestone thief. Cemeteries are extremely vulnerable to vandalism, theft, and the damage of time and weather. We appreciate all of the volunteers out there who are working so hard to document them before they are lost to history.

I'm not a numbers addict or collector, but I adhere to Findagrave policy:
◊Find A Grave's primary purpose is a graves registration website.
◊Find A Grave's secondary purpose is a memorialization/remembrance site.
◊Find A Grave's tertiary purpose is a genealogical resource.
Transfers are only made within the guidelines set up by Find A Grave. These guidelines are in place for a reason - whether one cares to accept them or not. I am not going to debate what the owner has deemed acceptable for his site with members who choose not to agree with the guidelines. "The ultimate goal should be to have meaningful, accurate memorials that honor those who have passed away, regardless of who created the memorial or who maintains it." I am willing to consider transferring ownership to you if you have a close family member among my records. I rarely transfer relationships more distant than first cousin... just having someone "in my family tree" or "a relative" will not elicit a transfer.
If you want information added to a memorial, go to the memorial and use the "Edit" tab to send me the information-- including family links. I will add information to the memorial, I do not transfer just because someone wants to add links or other information. Bottom line: what are you planning on doing with the entry that I haven't already done or am unable to do?
On the other hand, if you upload family photos or in some other way add value to the memorial, I am much more willing to transfer. I will always transfer a memorial if you sponsor it.
I welcome all corrections to my own work. Some records were imported using OCR so have inevitable errors, both from the original records and from machine interpretation. I am only human and make mistakes, too, but will always make it priority to correct them.

After accessing my Uncle Ike's information on "Find a Grave" I noticed that there was a note added by anonymous, that I had not responded to requests to remove him from being listed with his final resting place as Juniper Haven Cemetery. I did reply to your posting, and I did have the information regarding the scattering of his ashes and location already listed. One of the choices as to the diposition of a person's remains is "cremation, with scattering, and location of scattering (in so many words). This is what I did. I do know that this information is correct, as I am the one that scattered his remains. I was not aware that I had to notify the cemetery district of my actions. I did not see that it was required in the form I was filling out on the site.
Thank you for your consideration in this matter.

First, Best Wishes to you on your move. Hope all goes smoothly. Next, I just wanted to say "Thank YOU" for adding my Grandmother's Married Name to her memorial, Matilda Frances Dedrick Cleary.

I am so very grateful for your years of work and efforts in sharing the grave site information. I can't tell you what it has meant for me, personally. THANK YOU.
I've been trying to find the grave of my Grandmother's first husband, RUDOLPH C. BERANEK. (Her maiden name is Matilda Frances Dedrick -- Find a Grave Memorial #80830927).
Only Rudy and his sister, Sophia, are not linked with their family, on "Find A Grave". I'd like to add them, but have hit a road block with Rudy's information.
He was born in 1903 and married my Grandmother on Oct. 6, 1923. They divorced in 1927. In the late 1930's he married Nettie, and they had a son, David, while they lived in Chicago. I can't seem to find anything more. Do you know anyone in the Beranek family, that might know where he's buried? Thank you for any information you can share.

I have been to the cemetery indicated and think that I have located David's tombstone however, he died in 1833 so therefore is very difficult to read but could also contain German in the inscription. When I inquired at the church, Zions Ev Lu Ch Cemetery, I was told by the caretaker and his wife that David Heil is not buried there.
Could you also identify the location of the tombstone regarding the above referenced subject matter?

Good day to you. Hope your move went well.
I am at the St. James Cemetery snd can not find Samuels headstone. Would you by any chance be able to indicate where it may be located? I am his 4th Great Granddaughter and would like to tend his grave if needed. Thank you for your efforts and kind consideration on FindAGeave.
