I so enjoy getting to walk around cemeteries and take pictures of grave markers. I also love that FAG exists and gives everyone a place to "remember" their loved ones. |
With that said, I recently found that a FAG contributor requested moving flowers (or images) not be posted to "her" memorials because "I think you would agree that your gesture is about respect for the dead, and not a competition of who can find the most distracting jpeg." I am quite disgusted by that comment. As far as I am concerned, even if I did create a memorial, it is not "my" memorial. A family member or friend should be able to leave any tribute they see fit on their loved ones memorial, as I am not to judge what is appropriate for someone else.
REMEMBER: Find A Grave is a wonderful place to find family and friends who have left us and every memorial we contribute adds more value (and love) to the site. Refusing to transfer a memorial to a family member is just plain rude and selfish; not to mention against FAG's policies for a direct line family member. If you don't want to "play" by the rules, leave.
With the exception of my own personal family photos, photos I post can be used by others for their personal, private and/or non-commercial use. If you want to post them to Ancestry or similar site, please respect my efforts. Do NOT copy my photos to ancestry.com or similar site without giving me credit. Simply copy and paste:

I totally agree with the things you said in your bio. First let me say THANK YOU for all your work.
I have just recently started researching my family, the Lunsford, Jacobs and Hartt family and it is very time consuming and sometimes confusing,
but very interesting. But I have noticed that there are pics of the cemetery fence on a lot of the memorials, I'm guessing maybe because there wasn't one of the tombstone. My question is can the fence pic be deleted when a pic of a tombstone has been added.
Thank you for transferring my aunt's memorial to me....I really appreciate it!

Hi! Would you be willing to please pass the memorial for Fredonna Koehnle Millard to me? My Find A Grave number is #47262706 and this memorial is my aunt, buried in Nacogdoches, TX in 2008. She was very special to me and I'd like to add some text and other items from the family for her page.
The memorial I'm asking about is 68246154. Thank you so much for your consideration!

Thank you so much. You don't know how much this means to me and my children. We rarely get to go to graveside, but this memorial allows us to give flowers and messages to my Moma. Thank you so much. btw hendricks(cherokee county) and shiloh(smith county) cemetaries are my family.

You're welcome. Unfortunately it happens from time to time. Not everyone checks to see if there is one already displayed, or they may not realize there is a variation in a name, i.e. nickname or spelling.

I would love to have Mabel transferred to me. She is a half-sister to my Great-Uncle. Mabel's daughter informed me as to her burial place. My family is originally from Eunice. I live in Lafayette. I would like to add more info and link to her parents.
Thanks so much,
Marty Bergeron Dupuis
