My family has been in the central Texas area since the 1840s, so my efforts have been concentrated in that area, mainly in Bandera, Medina and Kendall counties. I am the county coordinator for the Atascosa County, Bandera County, Comal County, Gillespie County, Guadalupe County and Medina County TXGenWeb sites, which have (and still are) turning up a lot of interesting history. I have also been working on my husband's Gillespie County family tree (I swear he's related to nearly everyone in the county!), and on my son-in-law's family tree, which has me researching in Guadalupe and Comal counties. Between all these, the list of names I'm researching is substantial.|
I strongly believe in free genealogical information. That's why I volunteer for as many local genealogy websites as I can find, and I post my results to free genealogy sites. I encourage everyone to add their burial records to this wonderful database, so that these memorials, some fast disappearing, will truly never be lost. If you find your family here, and would like me to transfer ownership of the page to you, please let me know! I'm not into racking up big number counts on my stats. I AM into having family members monitor their own kinfolk's memorial pages! Please request transfers through the memorial page itself. Due to the overwhelming number of correction/addition requests I have been receiving, I may occasionally transfer memorial pages automatically to the requester. PLEASE if you are requesting a transfer, make sure you are logged in to Find A Grave when you make the request so I will have your member number! Also, please be aware that a large number of the memorial pages I have created are my relations, so if you send a request for transfer and I don't immediately comply, it is probably because I am related to that person as well. Usually a flower on the page with the signature "Family Historian" is a tip-off that the person memorialized is a relative.
I happily give permission for my Find A Grave photos to be used by anyone for their family research.
I'd like to acknowledge the invaluable assistance of the intrepid Jane Jahns Rice (thanks, Jane!) for assisting me with photographing the large San Geronimo Cemetery in Seguin, Texas.

I just transferred a good handful of memorials to your care that are either in the Bandera cemetery or have family members there. There are also a few other Bandera folks that I am not related to that I thought you probably knew that I have transferred to you too. I hope you do not mind the transfers. I knew that you would take great care of them.
Thanks, In memory
|McMillan||Joseph Marion Scruggs|
Donna, thank you for all the work that you do. My name is Shirley McMillan from Bandera, TX. I grew up in Asherton, TX and lived across the street from Joe Scruggs, wife Alice and their 3 children. Downloaded Joe Scruggs find a grave information.
The three children:
Joseph Marion Scruggs "Joe" Jr. born 1937
Mary Alice Scruggs (about 1 or two years younger than me.)
I was sad to discover that Joe Jr. died in 2000.
I have been looking everywhere to find Robert and Mary Alice. Robert was the oldest. I heard that possibly Mary Alice married and lives somewhere in the Hill Country, not far from Bandera. Would appreciate any help regarding my search. Any suggestions?
Thanks for your time.

|clarissa mckone||lost creek|
hi, my name is clarissa and Im a relative of Schlinke in Cuero tx area. I was wondering if you know who owns the Lost creek cemetery land? Last year I found it for first time, and the grass was 4-5 ft tall. Being from out of town almost 300 miles away, I cant bring equipment to clear land, but could get some weed killer. any help on who is to maintain it or clean it would be great. I heard that some had requested that inmates at local jails clean it up, but have been told so far nothings been done. thanks for any info or help in advance Clarissa
|mel||RE: Ney Family|
Its' always a great day when you can link a memorial with a loved one!
I've transferred the Neys listed under 'Jean Marie's Family" to you. I also manage a small group of Neys buried at Holy Cross in D'Hanis. Please let me know if I should transfer those (or any others ).

|Awilda Borchers||Katherine Fries|
Roger was looking through some papers and found his mother's Certification of Birth, and Certificate that she was Baptized.
Thought you might be interested since she is part of your family too.
I need to try to get her birth certificate at a later date. The certification of birth does not show names of her parents.
Born Feb 17, 1914 (She always told us Feb 1, 1914)
New York City, New York.
Baptized on Feb 3, 1915 at St. Vincent Ferrer's Catholic Church of New York, New York.
At that time her name was shown as Catherine Friess. Evidentally a typo since it should have been Fries. I don't have the date of the adoption. She also has always gone by Katherine instead of Catherine.
I have name and birthday listed under Alternative if you look at my Fries tree.
Take care. Awilda
|Dawn Sanford||We are Related?|
I think we may be related. I was leaving some flowers on Riehs, Wittman, Balcar, grave pages and
I saw your flowers posted. Figured you may be related to do that. Then I read your page and am making contact in hopes it seems we both found another relative lol.
Hope to hear from you.

That happens a lot, my husband's surname has changed from DeGylet 11 generations ago in France to Gillette, with some seven different spellings.

|William Farmer||Capt. Absolem Junious Farmer|
I'm looking for info on my great great great grandfather Capt. Absolem Junious Farmer. I've been through just about every public record on the fellow and i am now tracking down extremely distant relatives. I am writing a chapter about his death at the Battle of Allatoona pass(it's historical fiction). I thought to ask the people who have left him virtual flowers because they might have info on him. I thought of this because i went and found his grave and it appears that his marker had been redone. So, someone else out there must be interested in his life.
Do you have any kind of info on him or his life that you could give me? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
William Farmer (I am related to him on my mother's side, my mother just happened to marry someone with last name Farmer.)
