My daughter Tracy and I have had the geneology bug for quite a while, researching our family tree. Since discovering Find A Grave,we wanted to be helpful to others who are looking for their ancestors.
TRACKING TEXAS TOMBSTONES As of now (Jun 2011) Tracy and I have completed logging and photographing the Laramore, Union Hill, Hopewell, Lone Cottonwood, Oakland, Cope, Faulkenbury, Kennard, Parker, Morrow, Prices Chapel, Rea, Lightfoot, Marystown and Midway Cemeteries in Johnson County, Texas, and are working on the Bethesda, and Prairie Springs Cemeteries, down the road a piece. We actually visit them, don't submit names from a list or book somewhere.
Please let me know if there are any corrections to be made on anyone we have entered.
FOR THOSE OF YOU WITH THE DETECTIVE SPIRIT, PLEASE TAKE A LOOK AT REA CEMETERY FOR THE PERSON WE HAVE LISTED AS UNKNOWN. WE HAVE MADE SENSE OF LOTS OF FADED MARKERS, BUT THIS ONE IS BEYOND OUR CAPABILITIES!!
Thanks, and happy hunting!!
ALSO, A VERY SPECIAL THANK YOU TO LCD FOR SPONSORING MY BROTHER MICHAEL'S SITE. WHAT A KIND THING FOR A STRANGER TO DO - BUT I FIND THAT THERE ARE MORE FRIENDS THAN STRANGERS ON FIND A GRAVE EVERY DAY. BLESS YOU LADY.

 | Freeman Barcus Hi, I took pics for your request for Freeman Barcus' grave here in Portland, OR. Someone had put a note on your request that they could find no gravestone for him. I thought I would take a look my self. I poked around in the ground where his stone should be and hit something solid. I started digging and I found his stone. It was buried under about 4 inches of grass and dirt. Anyway, now you can see it. It is a real old temporary cement gravestone which has stood up surprisingly well for as old as it is.
