Bio and Links
Bio Photo I was introduced to Find a Grave about 2000 by a cousin. Together we tried to add as many members of our family as we possibly could. It wasn't long before my cousin became the subject of his own memorial page. Eventually, I realized that there was more I could do than just search for my own family. So, I began trying to add photos whenever I could. Recently I became involved in a cemetery project in my area. A friend and I began searching through the hills, bushes and briers for long abandoned cemeteries, adding what we find to Find a Grave.
Find a Grave is a great site for people who are researching their family. We have made it our goal to do whatever we can to make it the very best it can be.

I asked Findagrave to remove the photo years ago and they didn't. You are not the first to tell me this. Maybe you can ask them also. I do appreciate you noticing and I wish it were gone from there. Thanks

Owen and Scott County cemeteries
Hi. I haven't been doing genealogy research for very long, but I am finding myself hooked now that I've started! I don't live in Kentucky, but I noticed that you have provided photos from Owen and Scott County cemeteries, so I thought that you might be close to that area. I would like to know if all of the headstones in certain cemeteries have been recorded. Specifically, I am wondering about Caney Fork Baptist Church Cemetery, Long Lick Baptist Church Cemetery, and Southworth Family Cemetery. Also, just in general, in that area, have people found everything that there is to be found yet? Are there still little family cemeteries that are on private property that haven't been recorded in Find A Grave? I am wondering because I am missing death information for quite a few people in my family tree. I can't find death records or burial plots or Find A Grave entries or obituaries or anything! I even bought the book "Gone, Forgotten, Now Remembered: Scott County Cemeteries," but I have had no luck on a few people. It's frustrating. I'd love to hear any information or feedback that you have on this area. Also, I'll throw out a name, just in case you ever see it on a headstone...Carrie Belle Leach Hile(s) is someone that I am looking for. She was born in 1879 and died some time between 1904 and 1909. I have her on the 1900 census, as a young married woman. She was married to Lawrence Hile - - he was from Long Lick. She probably was too. I have a little photo of them when they were married in about 1899 - it was taken in Omega, which was somewhere between Owenton Rd and Sutterville Rd. It had a post office at the time they had the photo taken. I think that Omega is probably on someone's farm or just a little shack along a dirt road now... It's sad to me that I can't find Carrie Belle anywhere and I don't even have a death record on her. Lawrence and her children ended up in Whittier, Ca (along with my great grandmother, who was related to Lawrence). But I don't think that Carrie Belle died in Ca. I think she died in Kentucky.

Anyway, thanks for reading this message, even if you can't help me! I might need to make a trip out there myself some day.

Mefford Cemetery at Biddle

Dear Donna:

At first I would like to thank-you for the work you do in recording and preservation. It will reach over time and provide important data to those yet unborn.

I am in the process of preparing a proposal to preserve Mefford headstones. Would you be interested in assisting in that regard? At a minimum would you grant use of your photo of the Mefford Cemetery near Biddle in Scott County, KY? It has an unforgettable impact!

With much anticipation I look forward to hearing from you.

Yours truly,
George Paul Farris

RE: Mary C. Munson Hampton
Her son James Hampton's Death Certificate says the same thing. Burial in Hampton Cemetery. I think this cemetery was on the family farm in Hessler Pct. Owen Co., KY.

No, still haven't got the Death Certificate from you. Did you send it to

If a problem I can go onto and try
and find it.

Would you mind putting that Death Certificate
on her Memorial Site?
I would appreciate it. I can make a disclaimer
don't know Hampton Cemetery.

RE: Mary C. Munson Hampton
No, I would have to order the death certificate and take my chance that it might mention place of burial. Obituary is the other way to go and contact
Owen County Genealogical and Historical Society.
