Bio Photo Hello everyone,
I started working on the McVey family tree back in 1979. After the death of my grandfather, James Preston McVey (64288185), my father came into possession of an old humpback trunk that contained a civil war flag, a couple of old double barrel shotguns, tin type photos, and the Family bible. The bible contained the birth dates of my Great-grandfather and his brothers, that was the "seed" that got me started.
I had no idea at the time how addictive genealogy could be.
I ran across Find-a-Grave during a recent research jag. It has become one of my favorite resources. I've always been an avid photographer, so I have plenty of photos from past visits to family cemeteries, I'm attempting to add them as well as the newer ones I have visited.
I hope my additions are as helpful to your research as yours have been to me.

George Stone at Mc Vey
Given his birth year and the fact that his sibling and father served in CSA,
I think I shall put some effort into thinking George Stone may have also served in CSA.
Brother Samuel was just about old enough
to have served as drummer boy or later in war as soldier.

Thanks!
Hi Chris, just wanted to say thanks for researching and sharing all of these! I do have an update for you for my great-grandfather, William "Willie" Dempsey. His death year was 1915, not 1916. Here is the article/obit for his death (really tragic, as his wife was pregnant with my grandmother at the time of his death!):

Publication: Tribune Published: October 21, 1915 Headline: In Sight Of His Wife / Will Dempsey Killed By Fall of Slate In Little Mine Near His Home At Victor Details of the accidental death of William Dempsey Jr. of Victor, in a small coal mine at his home on Oct. 5, have been received. He had gone to the mine, accompanied by his wife and little son, to mine some coal for home use. While his wife was watching him a heavy fall of slate came in on him, killing him instantly.

Chris, In order to be sure this is the person I'm looking for...I'm wondering if you are related to Carl McVey once married to Maude May Payne and 1/2 sister to John O. Simms. I noticed you were the one who added a picture of his headstone from the Edmonds Oddfellows Cemetery in Fayette County. The John I'm searching for was married to Mary and had one son, Richard. I've just joined the Find A Grave website as a contributor or you can email me at maloney49@gmail.com. Thank you, Jane Maloney
