Bio and Links
Bio Photo I live in the Carytown section of Richmond, Virginia, USA, one time capital of the Confederate States of America. I grave the area of New Jersey to Georgia, looking for family burials.

And often while walking those cemeteries I'll see some neglected or damaged or sinking markers, so I tidy them up, take a picture and post it, feeling like I might be their last best chance to be remembered to some future researcher. We all have the same goal, we're working for posterity, and I think this data base has become a number-one stop for any serious family history researcher.

Let me add that I don't like linking to those "unknown burial" memorials; This is find-a-grave and you've found nothing. I'll do it if you insist, but it's against guidelines to even place these unknowns just to connect others.

I'm a U.S. Navy veteran, Vietnam era, duty aboard the USS Canopus AS-34. I raised a family, but lost my wife. I made a career in newspaper production, am now retired, and enjoy volunteer gravestone photography.

The best way I've found to get a readable gravestone photo is to redirect sunlight to cast shadows across the carvings.

Anyone who wants to use my photos may do so, without any restriction, so help yourself. They have been posted here for you to use. And if you want a transfer, simply ask for it.

William Miller
There are two William Millers in the cemetery record that have not been entered on Find a Grave, yet. The birth years are 1891 and 1892. Doesn't seem like a good match based on the birth year of 1886 for your William.
No Marie Miller, either.

I didn't come up with much on ancestry for William and Marie.
They didn't leave many tracks.

It is interesting that Chester is the only one that ended up in Vacaville. Seems like everyone else stayed pretty close to home (New Jersey).

I'll enter the two Williams later today, so you can check them out.

I just entered Florence Lamoreaux 56354579 into a Washburn, WI cemetery and will be glad to transfer her to you if you wish. Thank you for your service! My husband was in the Seabees in Vietnam. He and a fellow veteran will be going to Branson Tues for Veteran's Week. They sure know how to treat our heros there! Have you ever gone?

Thank you for the additional photo of I. T. Norwood, I really appreciated it. He was the son-in-law of Thomas Graham McIntyre, our GG Grandfather.

Also, while it's on my mind, thank you for your dedicated service to our country. Our Vietnam era veterans didn't get the recognition they deserved.

You are most welcome. Thanks for the compliment and tip on using a reflector to redirect light.

RE: Greenoaks Memorial Park ~ Shingleur
well the marker is most assuredly not in section 1.I walked and searched the whole section, even brought a broom to clean the ones covered with leaves. I also did masonic 1 which is right next to it with no luck. I often take pictures and add them but dont actually verify sections. i will look for it in other sections

Thank you so much for locating the gravestone and posting the photo and information. It's so much fun to meet friends and relatives (some of which you may have grown up so close to and never knew were kin). It is especially appreciated for the long trip and number of ticks you incurred all for the sake of prosperity.
Thanks so much!

RE: Toliver Hanks ~ Cool Spring Cemetery
Dear Rich,
Thanks so much for the great Hanks grave pictures! With your permission, I'd like to include them in a Companion Disk for my cousin's book, "Abraham Lincoln's Hanks Family Genealogy", by Vicky Reany Paulson. I'll give you full credit for the photos.

Oh Rich! You made me cry---in a good way!! I knew from a 2nd cousin that his grave was on private property in a very rural area, and that her cousin who lives nearby maintains it. I was intending to get out there one day, but the description she gave of the property was not very encouraging!
