I don't live near any of my own relatives and very much appreciate the work that folks from those areas have done. I concentrate on the cemeteries near my home, adding information about spouses, maiden names, and parents whenever I find sources that appear to be valid. I'm sure there are times that I'm led astray by what looks valid, so please send an edit or contact me if you see something that doesn't look right!
I'm glad to transfer records if you're a direct relative of someone whose memorial I created. Please see the FAG guidelines under "How do I get a Relative's Memorial Transferred to Me" on the "Help with Find A Grave" page.
Feel free to use the headstone photos that I've taken in any way that is respectful.
My profile picture is of Kari, one of my second great-grandmothers.
RE: Aurelia Nachman It was my pleasure to get it for you. In fact, as I was looking for her, I stumbled across the grave of a cousin I didn't know was buried there! So I thank you for requesting Aurelia's photo!! :-)
RE: Abraham Weinberg's Headstone Photo You're welcome. If you can verify Muriel Weinberg has a marker and get the location, I will go back again in the near future. The graves I found were on the side of the cemetery under trees near the fence to the adjoining cemetery.
RE: Clara Williams Yes, married twice. First time was to Margaret Ella Scott Williams Burkett. Their last argument is family lore...he wanted her to iron his shirt with a better crease. He was a musician and was playing at a club that night. The row was serious and was the final straw. As the story goes, the iron ended up sticking out of the door he left by...because Margaret threw it at him. lol. There is a census record of him in a boarding house in Michigan after that...he is listed as divorced. Quite unusual in those days. They had 3 children...Clara, Haisie and Lucinda.
Ada Francis Holcombe Crippen HI, The information I gave you for Ada Crippen's birth date in incorrect. The book I got it from has it listed as Sept 27,1846. The date listed on her death certificate is Feb 27, 1846. This date was supplied by her daughter.Thanks. Carolyn Shaw
Find A Grave Memorial# 97012556 - Juliana Willis Thompson Wow! You've helped me with a heck of a genealogical breakthrough! I've been searching for over a year for any trace of Julia Ann Willis. Coming upon her Find-A-Grave memorial via Ancestry, as well as other records, I now know that my Julia Ann and the Juliana of the memorial you created are indeed the same person. She and Clarissa Ann Willis Sloan, my 2nd great-grandmother, were sisters.
I'm going to ask you for two things. 1) You mention her death certificate. If you still have it stored digitally, it would save me some time if you'd be willing to email it to me. 2) Secondly, it would be very gracious of you if you'd consent to transfer the management of her memorial to me. I am hoping to connect with her descendants, and this would ease that process.
It sounds like we may be researching some of the same people. In addition to Joseph Gilbert, I am needing a break on William Perry, Eliza's father. How far back have you gotten on the Schreiner side?
It has always struck me as curious that Joseph and Eliza were married in Washington Co. Back then, travel had to be awkward, at best, and even though Frederick and Washington are neighboring counties, it seems unusual for them to go that distance. There were a few Gilberts in the western Frederick and Washington Co. area, but I have had no luck connecting them to Joseph.
We too are away - babysitting grandson. I look forward to discussing our ancestors when we return.
P S Have you been able to find any records for the Dunkard Church at Beaver Dam. I have struck out there - letters to the apparent minister have been unanswered. I managed to get someone to answer a phone call at the church number, but they were unhelpful and appeared uninterested. As best as I can tell, the church has very few members and is not very active.
Joseph Gilbert My gr gr grandparents are Joseph Gilbert and Eliza (Perry) Gilbert, buried at the Beaver Dam. Cemetery near Johnsville, Frederick Co., MD. I am looking for information about either, but especially for Joseph. I have been unsuccessful identifying parents for Joseph. Several on Ancestry claim a Joseph Gilbert and Elizabeth Shipman to be his parents - I have not been able to document this, so believe this may not be accurate. Old Family photos will be especially welcome.
