The date on the headstone is actually his date of birth. According to the book (History and Genealogy of the Wetter-Miller-Schneider-Riedesel Families). The book has his DOB as Nov 14, 1796, but 1794 is correct if you calculate it from the death year of 1880 (about September) by the age at death on the headstone. | | | Jane Schmillen

Jesse - I am curious as to where you received your information in the bio on Archbishop Leo Binz. You have a statement saying that "It is believed that he was the first priest of the Rockford, Illinois Diocese to become a Bishop." Are you saying he was the first Bishop of Rockford, or are you saying that he is the first priest from Rockford to be the Bishop of Dubuque? I'm not quite sure what you are saying but he definitely was not the first Bishop of the Rockford Diocese, nor was he the first priest to become a Bishop outside of the Rockford Diocese. Please advise.

Son of William Andrew Patterson and Agnes (Patton) Patterson. James was married two times. His first wife was Malinda Jane (Peery) Patterson (1813-1852). They were married in 1836 in Virginia and had the following children: David, William, George, Margaret, Sarah, James and Malinda Patterson. After Malinda died, James married Mary Clementine (Mahood) Patterson Downs (1835-1912).

I see according to Loras Green's obit that he was buried at Calvary Cemetery, Cascade, IA. But you have him at a different cemetery. Is the obit wrong?
