|Bio and Links|
I started this journey trying to find my roots and discover my lines. I was involved in an accident that caused me to be paralyzed. I went in for a hysterectomy and the epidural needle used for anesthesia cut the nerves to my right leg! I went from traveling a week every month running nonstop seeing new sights to staying home traversing with a walker! I had to find a hobby since I no longer could drive long distances and adventure as I once did. For two years I cried wondering, "Why Me?". Of all the people I knew, I was the one person who could not sit still for two seconds...always on the go was I. One day as I was lamenting my lot, I looked up at a photo of my great grandmother Elizabeth Barrow Wylde on my wall. It looked a little dusty. I grabbed the walker, found a dust cloth, and started dusting. On the back was a very old penned family tree. It piqued my interest. It started my new found love of genealogy.
Once I started, several family members have jumped in to help with this discovery. We have family members well into their 90s joining this search, relating their stories and encouraging the college aged children to help the quest. This is a family account.
There is much excitement in trying to put the pieces together to form this wonderful puzzle called FAMILY. Thanks to all of you for helping me in my efforts. I truly DO appreciate each and every one of you! This genealogical community is a family as well...
Recently I have learned how to do links... I decided to add links to my parents and brother who died. I was blessed with a wonderful mother and father who taught us to serve others. They instilled in each of us that desire to be helpful. They taught us to be kind to others. They wanted each of us to care for our fellow man. Elizabeth Barrow Haring was my wonderful Mother, and my father was John Albert Nurmi. My dear brother who died OH so early was Lawrence Albert Nurmi ...
My second great grandfather died under unusal circumstances. Quite an interesting read. Here is the article about Colonel J. Smith Haring.
We have all been touched by a neighbor. Many do leave an imprint on our lives. I was particularly blessed with an older couple who helped me grow up. They were Albert and Inez Balme. I am not sure how they managed to stay sane with a inquisitive little girl like me living next door! This memorial tells a bit of a story about me.
Here is a Dear Dear friend of mine who died when she was 11 years old. Virginia Lee McLeod. She went away for a 4th of July weekend on the West Coast of Florida only to contract encephalitis.
HUGS Of appreciation sent your way for remembering them!
If you want a transfer of any family member I would be happy to transfer that memorial your way. I do not go by the four generation rule! Family is family...no matter if it is 50 years or 500 years old! A direct line does not matter. Cousins and Uncles and Aunts have always played a large role in any family.
I will transfer memorials to you if you are helping someone else with their family tree...many are not computer wizards and need our help. I often will link together family members and help those related set up findagrave accounts. The entire reason we are here is to help others. I am a true believer in service.
If I can help anyone with your family tree, I am more than happy to help you do the search! I am a member of ancestry.com and have honed a skill when searching for relatives. There are stories to be told, experiences to be shared, and family roots to be discovered! I would be thrilled to search for documents pertaining to your family!
There is GREAT joy and satisfaction when serving others. Many times we find ourselves when we are in the midst of serving others! My mother always was a proponent of the concept that idle hands get into trouble...so I work work work...wink!
Though life is evanescent and soon passes, our thoughts and memories are locked in our mind forever. Remember those who have gone before us.

Hugs received! Thanks!
|Babs Aparturum||Daniel Wheeler Oak Hill Cem|
Thank you for the date change on 129878829 Daniel Wheeler's death. My Great Grandfather William Henry Wheeler's 168652672 has the wrong dates, but Oak Hill cemetery has the right records in their books, I was just being cautious.
I have added some pictures to Tappan Cemetery. For whatever reason, when they are going from my computer to the site, they are 'flipping' on the side.
Helen Bator - appears to be a duplicate of 20276565 at this same cemetery. Sorry I have to tell you this way; my 'capshaw' is not working...

A belated thank you for the information for Susannah. I've added it to the memorial page. Susannah was a third great-grandmother of my sister-in-law.

The best name EVER! Thanks for the additions to this memorial - I have written a small bio based on your additions - He was an interesting man - Anything else you can fill in is welcome - if you want to re-write feel free - I love adding them - Satisfies my OCD - Better than that is people adding dimension and content - Jo

|RocklandConklin||RE: Hi there!|
This is the first time I have signed on in years and I saw your message. Sorry it took so long.
I am not sure what family you were referring to, but as I have Conklins included a thought that might be the family.
Is you can provide further information for the 2 children I am missing I can investigate.

I couldn't find the appropriate edit tab so here is the burial info for your memorial page:
Marion H. Blauvelt
Mountain View Cemetery
Main Corridor, Section "O", Niche 1401
BTW, I like to know who I am "talking" with, are you comfortable giving your name?

All of the work that you did with putting in the information for the Tappan Cemetery was a huge factor in being able to figure out some of the grave markers. As you know, often times names can't be read and only dates can be or only part of a name can be read--by going through the names that you entered I was able to figure out which markers belonged to whom. Your work made a world of difference. I have about 15-20 more pictures to up load. (It was really hot yesterday--around 94--and I could only stand out in the sun for so long. My sister lives about 10 minutes down the road from this cemetery but 2 1/2 hours away from me. She already has been told to expect another visit before the end of summer.)
Again, thanks go to you for all the work that you did with the Tappan Cemetery.
