Researching ancestors in the rural areas surrounding Duck Creek Hundred, Delaware and Eastern Shore, Maryland has been challenging. Years ago, all I had to start with was names and dates on headstones. Of course, those discoveries only led to the next brick wall and cemetery road trip. |
I also volunteer to photograph gravestones in the Cecil & Kent County, Maryland area as well as the lower New Castle and northern Kent Counties in Delaware. Many memorials I have created were surnames requested by others or of interest because they were part of my ancestor's communities.
Thanks to all who have provided corrections and additional information for memorials. Unfortunately, duplicates occur when cemeteries are merged or a memorial is moved or modified, as well as, while struggling to create a memorial during times the site is slow and crashing. I will almost always delete mine if it is newer than the duplicate. However, the find-a-grave memorial will continue to be displayed in genealogy site searches until updated.
If I've created a memorial for another person's family member, I'll be glad to transfer it to them. Use the online 'Edit' tool for corrections / additions and transfer requests.
My photographs may be used in family genealogy projects without my written permission.

Thank you for trying to find the grave.
I know she was married to Jacob Alfred Jones.
He was probably buried in the same cemetery.

Thanks very much for the transfer!
|Stephen A Conner||Georgia Cohee|
I was trying to find the death date for Georgia Cohee's husband for some time and hit a brick wall. I suspect that his last name was misspelled in the death indexes. Now that I have a year, I can do an exhaustive search.
The photo is very nice.

Thanks for pointing out the wrong cemetery for Eva Vansant. I have deleted the memorial.

I am confused by your message. Can you help me?
I do have John L. Smith and his father listed in Asbury Church Cemetery in Millington, Kent County, MD. I see there are 2 cemeteries created for the same cemetery - obviously, findagrave has to combine them.
You wrote about 'near Chesterfield' and I don't see where you found that information?
Thank you kindly,
Dottie K. # 46831435

Thank you for the transfers. The Christensens in Delaware, could possibly be related.

just added a pic for you
|Maredia Haddock||So sorry|
I hear your frustration and do understand. I have had a few battles myself with dishonesty. People with unknown burials putting them in the same cemetery where I had a known memorial and then having mine deleted. I battled until I won.
Thanks for letting me know.
|Kimm Schumacher||Mary Oldham|
Hello, I found the photo of Mary Oldham's cemetery stone and am trying to find out if she was the wife of Charles Alfred Oldham.... Do you have any other information on her? Thanks so much for any help you can give me.
