Bio and Links
Please do not use my personal photos or the bios on my memorials unless you ask first. I've researched and written all the information included on these memorials, some information is not included on any document found at Ancestry.
Copy and pasting is not researching!

I've been researching my family genealogy for over 20 years and love doing it.
Most of the memorials I've added are family.
I've also added some Scotland's Comonwealth War Dead, my interest stems from a great uncle that died in WWI. I found his record in the CWGC.

Transfer gladly done if they're not my family. Or will add any info or links you may have. If anyone has any corrections or info to add on any of my memorials, I'd also be happy to add it, if it is sourced.

If you are also searching these surnames I'd love to hear from you. I'm always willing to share factual information.

RE: Humphrey McAuslan

From what I can see, there is a Rice Family Tree and Caldwell Family Tree that both show that Humphrey McCaslan was born in Luss, Dumbartonshire, Scotland. This is the only source I have come across. In fact, this the first time. Since I have not encountered any McCaslin Descendants before.

RE: Harold Wilson
Hi Jill,

The only information I have on Harold is from the 1900 and 1910 Census where he appears with his parents and of course the PA Death Certificate. I picked up his father from James F. Wilson's Civil War Pension file.

My grandfather, Hugh Wilson, was born in Apollo. My mother was born in Saltsburg, but her other siblings were born in Apollo. I am from upstate NY and have visited Apollo several times on family history research. The Apollo Memorial Library is an excellent resource.

Due to the large families of the time I seem to be related to a large percentage of those buried in the Riverview Cemetery.

RE: Harold Wilson
Hi Jill,

I Got the information from his Death Certificate, but just to be sure: Harold J. Wilson s/o John H. & Ella Myers Wilson, married to Hazel, born 18 Nov 1894 died 10 Jun 1926.

If you wish I can email you a PDF of the DC. Harold's grandfather John F. Wilson was my great-uncle and Harold is my 2nd cousin once removed.

Thanks for this memorial of my mother-in-law, Lydia Work. I don't often look for sources of immediate family members so have just found this Find A Grave memorial for her. I am supposing there will be one also for my f-i-l, David Work and I will soon look him up.

My husband is a descendant of Sarah Jane Dilts and James Berkley Work; she a daughter of Peter Dilts born 17 Dec 1785 Hagerstown Washington, Maryland and Sarah Kinter; son of William Dilts born 1753 of Hagerstown, Washington, Maryland and Nancy Watson. I have not done research on this line in many years but this is what I gleaned from History of Indiana Co. Penn. 1745-1880 pub. by J.A. Caldwell, Newark, Ohio 1880.

Hope this helps some.

RE: Elliott
Thanks so much for all the info on Scottish records. When I say they dont share them, Im pretty sure those words came from who has failed to obtain a contract with Scotland to put them on their site. You know how they are. You pay more and more for less and less. This is a problem, because the countries they have gained access to are not in English. I spend a terrific amount of time translating Italian even thought my Grandmother is right off Ellis Island. But being an immigrant back then was shameful and they never taught any of their children to speak Italian, just cus I think. Any words they did not want the children to know.
This particular Elliott line has been here since the Pilgrims. I have 2 other Scottish lines one around the Civil war and another only here 3 generations. No doubt I am Scottish.
I just had my Y-DNA done on my Fathers Elliott line and trying to read thru the tutorials they supply on the internet so you can understand them. I tried monitoring the Facebook page, but was lost after the first sentence.

RE: MacAusland Query (We may be distant cousins)
Hi Jill,
Happy New Year 2016. Thanks for the info. If I calculate it correctly, you are the
8th generation of descendants of Robert McCauslin, 7th generation of descendants of Andrew McCauslin, his son.

That's an impressive lineage for North America.

I'll be more than happy to share the findings of my DNA tests. Would prefer to send them to your e-mail address as opposed to a public posting. Is that possible?

In your travels through Pennsylvania, did you ever come across the name or gravestone of a Rev. William McCauslin(1766-1835), supposedly the son of Samual D McCauslin and Hester MacKey ?

Hope to hear from you.

MacAusland Query (We may be distant cousins)
Hi Jill,
Like you, I've been researching my MacAusland family(disregard the spelling)for nearly two decades and am still trying to find the origin of my North American patriarch.I'm in Canada.
That said, I'd like your help in overcoming a bit of confusion in my mind re your post on Andrew McAuslan. If you would, could you let me know if you are the 5th or 6th generation of the descendants of Robert McAuslan/ Johanna Miller ?
Why the question? Recent results of my Y-DNA tests suggests I have a match to a living individual whose distant ancestor was Robert McAuslan!
Hope to hear from you . Thanks in advance.

This may be of interest to you.
Find a Grave Community Day - Forwarded to you From CypressGreen:
I follow them on FB and for Find A Grave Community Day some people will be going to Woodland Cemetery in Cleveland, Ohio and others across the US to meet and photograph!
The idea is to get as many gravers as possible in the US (or abroad!) to fill outstanding photo requests, take photos for new entries, and meet others in their area.
I have you on my 'friends list' as a Cleveland area peep, so I wanted you to know. There are already 3 of us signed up.

RE: Mary Foreman McCaslin
Isabella Foreman and her husband Sam Mitchell are buried in Greenwood Cemetery in New Castle, Pa. Section 1 lot 275 and 276 Location 3rd N.W. corner. When I visited this plot 3 years ago the ground had sunken in and the stones collapsed facing each other, so no information can be seen. I have called the cemetery and left messages, but as usual no one returns my calls.

Jill, thank you for your info. I do not know who Isabella's parents are so I am stuck. I will save your information in case I find a clue.
