Sally Matteson
Per your request to go and get Matteson photos for you, I have fully photographed all of Hermon cemetery though its not all online yet. I have done full inventories of 170 cemeteries in St. Lawrence county (over 200,000 photos), and while I have all the memorials online the photos have to be added one at a time, so that even after 6 years of working on it every day I only have about 120K uploaded. I will add the photos I have within the next day or two. I am about to fly out to Denver to help my mother with her recovery from a fractured pelvis.

Thank you for the obit of Albert Hyde Gates. I added it to the site. I lived next door to their house in White Creek at my grandparents house. Didn't know him but knew his wife and some children.

Lester Matteson Obit
Thanks so much for providing the obit for Lester. That was so sad, but it's good to have the info.

Re: Julia Ann Matteson, FAG#75448091
You have suggested her parents are Thomas and Margaret Matteson. I am going to need some source or information. You are suggesting her maiden name and married name was Matteson. While not unheard of it is unusual.
Thank you,

Minnie Matteson
FYI - She died in 1923 so her obit is "too recent" per the find-a-grave rules to post. I'll add the key info. Oh, and yes, she died in Gouverneur. The article says she died at her home on West Main street, and in the Northern Tribune, that always means Gouverneur. An amazing number of people lived on West Main back then (now its more of a business/residential mix).

RE: Age Corrections
I checked each and when I found an obit (which I did for most who died after 1880) and it had birth date I put it in. You are right that no obits more recent than 1922 are allowed. I can usually find them online though and am happy to extract the key data.

Age Corrections
I've received a bunch of corrections from you with birth dates supplied. I'm ready to accept them all, but looking at them and seeing which you gave years on and which years and months, I'm thinking you are guessing based on the age on the stone at time of death. We are not suppose to guess as there will always be a chance it was one of two years (if the age is given in years) and one of two months (if the age is given in months). The only time a date can be calculated is when full ages (years, months, days) are listed. For cases where the age at death is listed on the stone, we are NOT suppose to assume which month or year it was (even if the person died December 31 or January 1), but instead put the age in the biography which I've done.

Anyways, if you can let me know if you do have a source that proves the specific year or month please reply and I'll accept them all. Thanks for your understanding and helping to keep Find-a-grave as a site for accurate data.

Captain Angell Matthewson

Sorry for the delay in getting back with you.

I do not know how I missed seeing there already was a memorial for Angell Mathewson. I guess it was because I was spelling his first name as Angel...I don't know.

I have sent a message to the woman who created the first memorial to see what she wants to do about deleting or combining the memorials. I will of course, defer to her wishes in the matter.

I also connected my memorial to Capt. Matthewson to his parents' memorials per your suggestion.

Lastly, do you have any clue what his wife and mother's maiden names might have been?
