I live in Tennessee and I am looking for the surnames of Barlow, England, Matthews, Ward, Poston, Masters, McGee, Allen, Lee, Grant, and Bradley. I am trying to locate as many generations of these names as I can for my own family research. While I am knocking around the cemeteries, I will do what I can to help anyone with documentation of other burials. If anyone in Overton county, or the surrounding counties has an ancestor as a veteran, and the current marker is in really bad shape, I can help get a new VA marker put up for free. We put up several every year for families, free of charge and they are very happy with it.
Bill Cooper farm cemetery Thanks for getting back to me about this cemetery. It has so many names but was originally called Old Gardenhire, and was found in the Overton County Roll Call cemetery inventory book-1987 as Holford cemetery. Our family oral history says Jacob is buried in the uninscribed grave house, next to his wife and with his son Adam. Part of this is supported in letters included in his biography written by Lawrence Gardenhire which can be found in the Overton Co. library genealogy room. I am hoping it is you that is caring for this old cemetery. Someone had cleared away some of the smaller trees. According the the cemetery book there is at least one other cemetery, called Gilliland Farm cemetery on that property, but we did not find it.
After spending several days in Overton Co. Tn. cemeteries, I believe I have found the grave of Jacob Gardenhire, father of Adam Gardenhire on the Bill Cooper farm in Oak Hill. Jacob Gardenhire 13481594 has been vetted by the DAR. His grave stone is not inscribed but rather an old stone grave house. Parts of this cemetery have been recently cleared and I am wondering if you know anything about this cemetery.
Martha Jane (Hargis) Neely Dear Chris, I was wondering if you might consider another daughter in the union of Calvin H. and Matilda (Bowman) Hargis, Find A Grave Memorial# 38965270? Hughey Adolphus "Dolph" Neely married Martha Jane Hargis on 20 October 1872 at Overton County, Tennessee. Martha was seen on Calvin and Matilda's 1860 and 1870 US Census ennumerations.
Both of their findagrave memorials follow.

RE: Old Barlow pictures I finally found the picture for Pickens Barlow and wife Mary Jane which my father, Curtis, got from his father, Freeman Barlow. Uncle Pick is not in uniform. I was wrong about that. My grandfather Freeman wrote "Uncle Pick on it."
Also, somehow our picture of Thomas Barlow is missing. The one we used to have looked identical to the one you have so someone must have copied it and gave it to everybody. We gave Jack Masters the picture of Delia and her 8 sons, another of Delia and her siblings. So we have those 2.
I have one more picture. It is much older than Pick and Mary Jane's picture. The picture is medal. It is a couple and it can only be Freeman's line. No name written on it. So who are they?
Eunice O'Neal Dillen/Dillon Hi Chris, First, Thank You so much for all your work on this project. Eunice O'Neal Dillen was my GGgrandmother and she was born in Washington Co. Va. She was the daughter of Charles and Martha LOWERY O'Neal O'Neal who went to Overton, Tn. from Wash. Co. Va. in 1830-32 along with her sibblings Margaret Ann (Bilbrey), Jane (Ray), Hugh Mack and Jim. Her sibbling Elizabeth (Wm. Dillon) and ??William were born in Tn. I am in hopes that you can correct this and maybe add her parents names. Thank you SO much. Dixie email@example.com
Fentress County Ghost Hi Chris, I have a GGrandfather that absolutely died in Fentress County but can't find any records. Thomas J. Wilson (b) October 1854 in Overton County. Father Isaiah Wilson (b) 1830 Overton County, Mother Mary Polly (Wilson) (b) 1828 Thomas has 2 sons buried in Wilder Cemetery, Shug Wilson 1891-1932 "WWI Vet" & Kye Wilson 1897-1930 Shug is my Grandfather and I'm not sure what condition his headstone is in, but it's a great thing you're doing replacing the destroyed ones for their families! Strange thing about this is my GGrandmother (Thomas's wife Mary Jones) is also missing. She moved to TX with family after Tom died. A lot of the Jones family migrated to Texas. But no record of her death either. Anyway, more to the point, I'm looking for Thomas J Wilson's date of death and hopefully where this ghost has been all this time!!! Thank you for your dedication.
You have a daughter listed for the above person on Find A Grave, and he had a childless marriage. He did remarry after Malinda Goodpasture Murphey died but both were older and no children from this marriage either. Thanks so much for correcting this. firstname.lastname@example.org
On the memorial for John Matthews #32733207 you have his middle name listed as Gilbert. Do you have a record that lists this? Like a bible record or something? I see it isn't on the tombstone and was wondering where it came from. I have also seen it on some ancestry trees as Stewart (his mother's maiden name). He is my 4th great grandfather.
Next month's Vacation Hi Chris, It would be great to see you and the Poston Homeplace. Vacation has been set for 14-17th of Sept. It really depends on my mother's surgery. They still haven't let us know that yet, so we shall see.
