Bio Photo "Grandchildren are the dots that connect the lines from generation to generation." Lois Wyse (20th century)

"Life is the flash of a firefly in the night. It is the breath of a buffalo in the wintertime. It is the little shadow which runs across the grass and loses itself in the sunset. What you leave behind is not what is engraved in stone monuments, but what is woven into the lives of others." S Pierce in memorial of "Woody" and Wilda Woodward.

I am a grandmother picking up the genealogy work started by my father, mother and uncle. As a member of DAR, I helped with the Centennial Chaper NSDAR project of photographing all the headstones in Weld County Colorado. http://www.coloradodar.org/chapters/centennialstate/cemeteries.html

Now I am combining work and putting my family genealogy (ancestors and descendents) on a data base and reaching out to family via memorials across the nation and around the world and taking photos of cemeteries where I go for others.

If you have a friend or relative in Mountain View, Idaho Veterans Cemetery, Terrace Lawn or Cloverdale Cemetery, Dry Creek or Old Pioneer (Idaho City), I will be glad to take a photo of the headstones for the memorials or transfer memorials that I manage.

If you want to copy any of the photos I have posted, feel free to as long is it is not used for profit.

"If ever there is tomorrow when we're not together... there is something you must always remember. you are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think. but the most important thing is, even if we're apart... i'll always be with you."

The 1920, 1930, and 1940 US Census has his birthplace as Iowa, along with the California death index.

Vernon Hektner
KE,
Thanks so much for the request.
I am proud to say that I knew Mr. Hektner and was also a student of his at NDSCS. My Father was a fellow instructor of his having taught Sheet Metal for 31 years.
I was also just a year ahead of his youngest daughter, Kara.
Sad to report that this past winter Hektner Hall on the campus of NDSCS was torn down. It had, unfortunately, deteriated to the point of no longer being salavagable.

Thanks again for the request. I sincerely hope you enjoy all of the pictures. They were taken on a beautiful day here in Wahpeton, North Dakota.

Regards
DDM

RememberMe
John Stinchfield & Sarah Lake
Their marriage was Nov. 16, 1787. So if Eben was their child, he would've either been born before the marriage of his parents (assuming John & Sarah Lake), or been born just a few months after the marriage. But all Eben's marriage records say that his mother is Mary Lake, as does his death. Perhaps Mary Lake is the sister of Sarah Lake, and John married her after Mary died. But I can't find any records proving such a theory. Or, maybe Sarah went by Mary, as I've seen middle and first names interchanged and causing confusion.

RememberMe
Eben Stinchfield
I don't know what to say about his parents. His death record says that his parents are John Stinchfield & Mary Lake, so who is Sarah? I just don't want to play guessing games and start promoting false information. Perhaps I should remove Eben's birth date, only because no records seem to match and also because the birth recorded on a death record is not always correct, nor a primary source. I've seen wrong birth information on both death records and on a lot of the familysearch records. For one person I was researching, familysearch had four birth records, all from the same source, with four different birth dates for the same person! It really is too bad we can't see the original source.

RE: Just thinking about you
Fun, fun! I really enjoy making the new connections through genealogy... and it's good to learn of some in the younger generation who have an interest. My children enjoy learning the history of just about everything, for which I am VERY grateful.
