Bio and Links
I am a descendant of 17th century Delaware settlers John and Frances Grubb, through Curtis and Hannah Grubb of Cornwall, Pennsylvania, and Jehu and Elizabeth Grubb of Stark County, Ohio. Thanks to Curtis I am a member of the SAR. After years "back east", my wife and I retired to Prescott, AZ.

I have become a researcher for this Grubb family and have decided to locate or create memorials for family grave sites, add biographies and link them together as best I can with the help of the administrators. I think Find-A-Grave is an excellent way to memorialize historical people who might otherwise be forgotten.

My goal is, for any descendant of John and Frances Grubb with a Find-A-Grave memorial, the visitor to the memorial will be able to follow the parental links back through the generations to John and Frances. This should help visitors find the grave sites of other family members and gain some family history in the process. To that end, my virtual cemeteries contain memorials for family members I have identified, without regard to who administers them. To that end I will also occasionally create a "burial unknown" for key persons to complete the links back to the common ancestor. My hope in "bending the rule" is that the burial site will be found by another member, which has proven true on multiple occasions.

I would welcome any information about grave sites of family members descended from John and Frances Grubb.

Most of the information I use or add to memorials can be credited to "The Grubb Family of Grubb's Landing, Delaware" by David N. Grubb, and is used with permission.

Albert Galiton Grubb
Hello Lynn,
Albert was my GGgrandfather. I am related through his second wife Roxalana Armstrong. Their youngest daughter Loana was my great grandmother. Her youngest daughter Zana Brooks was my grandmother and her only daughter Betty Humble was my mother. When my mother passed I took several old trunks home and found Albert G. Grubbs bible with the births, deaths, marriages etc. I know 100% that he died in Toulon, Stark County, Illinois. Thanks

Ellen D. Grubb Menard #23351582
Hello Lynn, I just posted a photo to the Ellen Menard memorial in Lakeview Cemetery, Hamilton, VA. The stone states that she is the daughter of Harriet E. and Curtis Grubb. I see what appear to be her parents at Fairfax Friends Cemetery (your memorials). If you can confirm I have the right ones, you may want to link Ellen to her parents. Dick Belle

Godfrey Huff
Dear Lynn, quite by accident I ran onto Godfrey Huff that you had put on findagrave. He is my direct ancestor through Samuel Huff, Frederick Huff, Wm. Sherman Huff, Inez Huff Wolf down to me, Louise Wolf LaRue. I believe he should be buried in Tuscarawas County, Ohio but don't believe there is a marker to see. Currently, I am compiling a book for family on our Huff line and wonder if you are also researching Godfrey Huff? If you are interested, I am Louise LaRue findagrave no. 46871116, e-mail I live in Billings, Montana.

RE: RE: Ann Beeson Grubb
Thanks so much for the quick reply Lynn, That info nails it! Elizabeth is Ann's sister and their parents are Henry & Elnora nee-Huston Beeson. A great Beeson resource is "A genealogy of the Beeson-Beason family", 1968 by Henry Hart Beeson, downloadable from It has many Grubbs also were they married into the Beesons. Thanks again - rob

Ann Beeson Grubb
Hello Lynn, Realizing you can not always find the parents to link folks to, I was wondering if you know who Ann nee-Beeson Grubb's (1807-1897) parents are? I'm a William & Elizabeth nee-Mansel descendent and some folks on Ancestry seem to think Ann is ther child, but I am thinking Ann's parents are Thomas Beeson & Kezia Babb. Thanks for posting Ann in any event - Best - rob

PA as a Colony
Lynn, suggest that in order to be more accurate that if a person was born or died before 1776 in PA, DE, MD, NJ, etc. the state should be identified as a British or English Colony rather than USA. The USA was not formed until after the constitution convention in 1784 and when the constriction was written/ratified in 1787. This is especially true with those born or died in the Grubb Family. A good website to explain this is This helps a families, readers or followers of Find A Grave to have a better and accurate understanding our nationís history and early development that our ancestors that came and fought for independence in for example Col Curtis Grubb. He was born in PA when an English Colony in 1730 but fought for and died in PA as a state in the USA in 1889.
I am a distant relative from John Grubb (1652-1708) thru Jehu "John" Grubb when his son William moved to Knox co and his decedents married in to the Robinson Family in Knox Co. Ohio. Ohio is an interesting state especially after Land Grant Act of April 20, 1820 that made land easier to buy and the migration and contributed to the population explosion in the county and state. Thank you for your postings.
