Bio and Links
Bio Photo I am pleased to announce that Mt Pleasant has been completely photographed. That is those stones that are visible. The photos are not posted on FAG but I check the request list against my database.

All those photo requests are most likely unmarked or illegible grave sites.

Any memorial page I have created I have a picture of the headstone.

If you want a photo officially request one, don't bury your request in a spouse or another family members photo request.

Too many volunteers are now asking for other volunteers to do their research, please try and do your own on your time.

I take responsibility ONLY for the information obtained from the headstone unless otherwise specified by me. There are very few exceptions.

Due to the changes and procedures for adding addition information it is very time consuming to include the source. Find A Grave DOES NOT provide a way to show where the information comes from.

In light of these changes and the automated edit system, which makes it almost impossible to deny acceptance of changes and addition, I have been transferring all memorial pages to those wishing to make edits. This too has become too time consuming.

Therefore, in order to include the changes whether the information is CORRECT OR NOT I feel I am being forced to accept all edits. I hate this part because I have had quite a few people send edits only to resend two or three times in order to make corrections.

If you find errors send corrections but do not, I repeat DO NOT ask me about the information posted or hold me responsible for the additions. This goes against all genealogical best practices, but the only other solution would be to take down all the memorials and pictures I have posted.

If you find an error, double listing or double picture please let me know so I can correct the problem.

I have in the past used a picture of the cemetery gate/sign with "Office couldn't locate a burial for this person" imprinted on it. If you get this posting and do find a picture of you persons tombstone, let me know and I will remove it.

RE: Margaret Mickel
So sorry I wasn't clear. Let me try again.

Your entry for Margaret Mickel, Lake View Cemetery, Seattle, is 68366690. Another submitter also had Margaret in Lake View, only she called her "Margaret Donihue" which is the name on the stone, (because Margaret is buried with her daughter, Estelle Donihue and the submitter didn't realize that.)

I had not seen your entry and the woman who submitted Margaret "Donihue" transferred her to me, so I gave her her right name of Margaret Shearer Mickel. She is number 5229042.

So if you do a search in Lake view Cemetery for "Margaret Mickel", you will come up with two.

Re Margaret Mickel
Hi Karen, I am writing regarding your entry of Margaret Mickle # 68366690 Lake View Cemetery Seattle. I was working on family links when I came across her under the name Margaret Donihue on another findagrave listing. The error was likely made because another submitter thought she was a Donihue, because her name is on the stone with John and Estelle and Leslie Donihue. Estelle is her daughter, John is Estelle's husband and Leslie her granddaughter. This is my family and the grave of Margaret with the corrections was transferred to me. Since then I have found your listing. I do not wish to trod upon anyone's toes. If you do not want to delete your listing, I will send you Margaret's stats and the very interesting story of her husband, Reuben, a wealthy lawyer and banker who disappeared in Portland, Oregon, in 1886 - some say he was murdered and others that he staged his own disappearance. Anyway you want to handle this will be fine with me. I know many findagrave volunteers get their feelings hurt because their hard work seems to be negated at times but I assure you that is not the case with me. I am both a findagrave volunteer and historian and do not want to cause any problems in the cause for good genealogy. Thank you, Suzanne

Permission to Use Photo from Memorial# 28361147
Hi Karen,
Thank you so much for all of the awesome photographs! I am working on a small paper to honor forgotten Aleut soldiers from the Alaska Peninsula and the Eastern Aleutian Borough. May I use your photograph of Inokenty Vereskin's gravestone memorial# 28361147 in this paper? I will, of course, credit the photograph to your fine work.
Thank you,
Anchorage, Alaska

Memorial 24286461
Memorial 24286461 is duplicated in 173107492 & 141677849, my fault. I've asked to delete my 141677849. Please either delete your 24286461, or add the bio to yours. Also, Caroline Alta (Paul) Shelby's parents can be found: father 141678852, mother 141678348.

Thanks for your time.

Memorial 24286450
Hi Karen,

You've done a nice job with the David Clarkson Shelby memorial 24286450, my father. I'll email "edit@findagrave" to have my duplicate memorial deleted: 141676601.

His father, Moses B. Shelby can be found at Find A Grave 95385550, his mother at 95385490.

Request you add the following bio:
"David Clarkson Shelby was the 2nd of 2 boys (John was 1st born) and 2 girls (Jessie and Madge). He was raised as a farmer in Iowa, he mentioned Keokuk as a place that he lived, and attended some college in Ames. He joined the Army late in WW I, but had to sell his farm first; the war was almost over so he was soon discharged. At some point, he moved to the Prosser, Washington area to farm. His parents and 2 sisters soon moved there too. He staked out 240 acres in the Coulee country, where the Grand Coulee Dam is now. Part way through "proving up" his land he came down with appendicitis, which burst and he almost died. After recovering, he partnered with John Severyns and they started a Hay, Grain, and Feed business. While running the business, he met Caroline Alta Paul, a Teller at the local bank. They courted for a long time but he didn't "pop the question" so she moved to Seattle; David soon followed and they were married in Sunnyside, WA in 1926 on her 26 birthday. When the Depression came along in 1929, farmers couldn't pay their bills so the business went bust. He tried his hand at many jobs, working with his wife to support the family, until his health gave out. They had 2 children, Marcia Caroline Shelby, born in 1938, and David Clarkson Shelby, Jr. born in 1941. He died of heart failure in 1956."
