I am a native resident of Dayton, Ohio, son of Myron Dale and Emma Lucille (Smith) Poling. My favorite hobby has always been genealogy, but I started seriously studying my roots in 1993. I am single and retired after 30 combined years of service with the Montgomery County Clerk of Courts & Prosecuting Attorney offices. I enjoy entering information at Find A Grave. I have completed six cemeteries; Vernon Baptist Cemetery, Clinton County, Ohio; St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, North Star, Ohio; Roxanna Cemetery, Roxanna, Ohio; Mount Holly Cemetery, Mount Holly, Ohio; McKnight Cemetery, Spring Valley, Ohio; Spring Valley Cemetery, Spring Valley, Ohio; and Sections A, B & C of Woodland Cemetery, Xenia, Ohio. I have a full subscription to ancestry.com, and access to other sources. I like to research a persons name and add a small bio where possible. Please contact me with corrections / suggestions / links for my entries. Also contact me if you would like me to transfer a relatives memorial page to you.
Personal Note: I do not see Find A Grave as an internet game, trying to get high numbers of memorials & pictures added. I have seen people who have been a member of Find A Grave for 1 year and have added 100,000 memorials. Then when you review their memorials I find names mis-spelled, birth & death dates wrong, either no places of birth & death or they are listed in the bio instead of the proper fields provided by Find A Grave. Then I see pictures upside down, part of the stone not in the picture, pictures on wrong graves. Then there are pictures that haven't been cropped and you see more grass than stone and you can't even read the stone. I have been a member of Find A Grave for over 7 years and I average 14 memorials weekly. I take time to research the person to see if I can add middle names, maiden names, full birth & death dates, places of birth & death, and a small bio. My advice is to please slow down & proof read your work before clicking save. Yes, I do make mistakes and appreciate you pointing them out to me. My mistakes are because I am human and not because I am in a hurry to get a high number of memorials & pictures added. Also, if you take time to proof read your work, and do a little research on the person you are creating a memorial page for, you won't receive dozen upon dozens of Suggest A Correction e-mails.
Thank you for taking time to read my bio. | |

 | RE: Verna Rainer Thank you John, I try to put all the names of photo owners that I have permission from in one place,,usually next to the person in our family's name and or the cemetery...but sometimes I look and look and can't find a certain name, so I kind of repeat myself on the requests,,,so, sorry if I seem to be bothering you with it,,,again thank you for your gracious permission for the cemetery headstone photo's Mary | | | Marie and Bruce Newell

 | A thank you ... I'm a new member for contributions in the Dayton area and poking around I found your bio. Just a thank you for mentioning that people need to slow down when entering information. I've seen some real messes and duplicates already. I hope people appreciate all the extra effort you go to with what you furnish to the site. | | | | [View all messages...] |
