 | Elizabeth Pate I was at the cemetery last night on another request. I found Henry Pate, who fought in the Civil War and there was a marker beside his..much smaller, I'm assuming it was his wife but really didn't look hard at it as I wasn't looking for her..I just read this request once I got home. I'm a deputy and working third shift..stopped by around 5:30 when I got off. I plan to go back on my next day off with a weedeater and some day light..hopefully I can find what you're looking for. The cemetery is only 4 miles from my house.
Sincerely, Pat Kelley | | | Lomane Davis Hill
 | Nora Ruby Potter Shook Cemetery Man,
Just a side note. Ila Dean Davis Andrews died 12/12/12 and was buried 12/14/12 at Mount Zion Baptist Church in Hudson (I think the town was Hudson - might have been Sawmills). The whole family is gone now.

 | RE: Ruby Potter Shook Thanks again for posting the information. You would have enjoyed talking with her but she absolutely refused to talk about the past. I know from conversations with Daddy and Dallas that they lived a really hard life as did Grandma. I was born in 1949 and only have memories of her after her marriage to Ab Shook. He was an absolutely wonderful guy and Grandma was really happy living with Ab. Ab goes down as a saint in my book. I have nothing but the utmost love and respect for Grandma. It's hard to say how we might have handled the hand she had been dealt.

 | Nora Mae "Ruby" Potter Shook Cemetery Man, Thank you for posting this information about my grandmother. I have been meaning to get up that mountain and get the information about her. Thank you again for your contribution. Incidently, would you care to comment on how you knew Grandma and Daddy. My father was Devaughn Davis. Again, thanks so much. | RE: Steen Cemetery, Marlboro Co., SC I don't know how valid my suggestions were since they were coming from the markers. I figure you may have more reliable records since you created the memorials, but I decided to provide them anyway.
And you are right. The cemetery is very well kept to be off the beaten path and down a dirt road.

 | RE: Empsey Gragg I noticed that today when I was editing the place of death. I don't remember getting an email stating that a child was linked. Imagine my surprise to see one. I was trying to figure out who this child was before contacting the contributor who linked it. Thank you very much for doing that. I also really appreciate letting me know. I have spent so much time on another part of my family that now I realize I have neglected this one.Added by cathie on Jul 06, 2012 9:27 PM | | | cathie
 | Empsey Gragg Thank you for spotting that. I have the correct place of death on my family tree but somehow had the wrong county. I fixed the error. Thanks again! CathieAdded by cathie on Jul 06, 2012 6:50 PM | | | | [View all messages...] |
