I am an eight generation South Carolinian and I love tracking my family history. I live in Loris SC but hometown is Conway SC where my daddy still lives.
I did not start my pursuit of my ancestors unfortunately until after my grandparents and my mother had passed away, now I have to rely on making trips to the area that they grew up in and are buried in. The families that I am interested in are Kyzer, Taylor, Gunter,Shumpert, Wright, Rodgers, Thomas and Ellis, all of these are from the Lexingon area and Newberry and Abbeville area. I also do my husbands family which include, Andersons, Booth, Cartrettes, Fipps or Phipps, Fowlers and Sarvis. In addition I am looking for my childrens family on their daddys side which would include, Lundy, Graham, Dew, Johnson, Singleton and Sarvis. I truly enjoy Find a Grave and volunteering to do photos for others.
James Thomas Booth James Thomas Booth and Clarkey Bessant Hux Booth had 13 children. Find A Grave says there were 11 children and lists 12. Omitted from the list is John Asbury Booth [April 28, 1865 - Feb. 16, 1872]. Probably named for his uncle who died in the Civil War. There were at least 3 John Asbury Booths and at least one Asberry Booth.
James Thomas Booth's mother was Olive Holmes. I am certain of this as I have been doing research for over 55 years, have information collected as early as 100 years ago (collected from people born as early as 1851), and have copies of the family records from the James Thomas Booth Bible. ALSO - on her tombstone at Poplar the name is Olive Holmes Booth (Jan. 16, 1812 - Feb 9, 1889, wife of John J. Booth). I think that perhaps Olive's name was Olive Magbee Holmes. Her mother was Sallie Singleton. Sallie's mother was Olive M ??? whose second husband was Samuel Magbee (Magby).
I have the original of the picture that is posted on Find A Grave. The dark mark at the upper right hand corner is my brother's finger (with shadow). We took the picture out of the frame to photo the original. That was before digital cameras - I have been giving away pictures for about 25 years.
If you posted the obituary - thank you. I had not gotten around to obtaining the OB.
When I get a chance I am working on Volume Two of the Booth Family. Would love any information that you may have - or any assistance you may give.
