Life is lived forward, but understood backward
~~~~~ The Dash ~~~~~
I read of a reverend who stood to speak at the funeral of his friend. He referred to the dates on her tombstone from the beginning...to the end.
He noted that first came the date of her birth and spoke of the following date with tears, but he said what mattered most of all was the dash between those years.
For that dash represents all the time that she spent alive on earth…and now only those who loved her know what that little line is worth.
For it matters not, how much we own; the cars…the house…the cash. What matters is how we live and love and how we spend our dash.
So think about this long and hard… are there things you'd like to change? For you never know how much time is left. (You could be at "dash mid-range.")
If we could just slow down enough to consider what's true and real, and always try to understand the way other people feel.
And be less quick to anger, and show appreciation more and love the people in our lives like we've never loved before.
If we treat each other with respect, and more often wear a smile… remembering that this special dash might only last a little while.
So, when your eulogy's being read with your life's actions to rehash...would you be proud of the things they say about how you spent your dash? ..... by Linda Ellis
..**.. ღ While researching our family I used the find a grave site and found it to be a valuable tool. I feel that LINKING the family on that site to be important in finding other members of the family. We felt the need to help others in their search for family.
Putting a photo, a document, a bit of history of the person and the grave stone on the memorial is a complete picture for us to enjoy. Thank you for everyone who helps to complete this task. Your work is an enormous gift.
If you have a photo request for a large cemetery, it is always best to give the volunteer a plot number and or location in the cemetery. I will do what I can, it is a great hobby. Please be kind to those who are willing to volunteer to help. The words "Please and thank you" are always welcomed.
Edits, suggestions and corrections are always welcomed and done ASAP, through the edit tab on the memorial.
I walk the cemeteries to photo when I can. I add what I find for all the memorials I have set up, hoping this will help others find their family.
I have been a genealogy buff for over 40 years. After learning my maternal parents and great grandparents came here to make a better life, I actively researched to find all the connections. My husband and I were fortunate enough to visit their homeland in St. Cecile/Fontenoille Belgium in 2012 where we met more family.
One of the most important things is our life is to give our children roots to grow and wings to fly.
Our genealogy families include:
Church ~ Warren ~ Strange ~ Burt ~ Weber ~ Jenkins ~ Bailey
Also: Champluvier ~ Protin ~ Charron ~ LaFountain/Fountain ~ Ledoux/Sweet ~ Shover/Chauvin ~ Tetreault/Tatro and variations of.
I have interest in several surnames: Crapo, Spooner among others.
Life is about the people you meet and the things you create with them so go out and start creating! .... ღ
Thank you for the excellent photography and for venturing out to get the photos of Ruth Burr Staples and Joseph Staples graves.
We were in Freetown a couple years ago looking for their graves, but did not know about the Nichols Cemetery. They are my husband's ancestors. I am amazed at the great condition their tombstones are in. We did not have a date of death for Joseph so this is very helpful to our research and very exciting. Being in South Florida we don't get to New England as often as we like, but we hope we can visit their graves on our next trip. Thank you again.
Thank you for the transfer of my grandmother Reed's memorial to my account.
I am brand-new here, so I'm still learning the ropes.
Hi - Could you please link my 3rd GG to her parents? Here's the info. Daughter Ledora Sherman Ricketson (#113928518) linked to her Mother Nancy Soule Sherman (#113977677) and her Father James Sherman (#113962741). I truly appreciate it! Thanks...C.P. Sherman
You suggested I link John Geggatt and Florence. These are my Great Grandparents, and I would love to link them and also John Geggatt and Ethel. I do not know how to do that. If you can explain how, I will be glad to make it happen. Thanks for the advice.
Sending you a private email so you can contact me.
|Sue W ||Gidley, Crapo, Spooner|
I was able to sign on finally. You took some great photos of the Gidley Family Stones. We couldn't get any because when we arrived it was close to dusk.
Strange that you mentioned the Crapo and Spooner surnames as these are ancestors of mine.
|Anna C||Sidney & Lucy Teachman|
Thank you for bringing to my attention that I have Sidney and his wife Lucy in the incorrect cemetery. I placed them there based on information and a photo of their marker that I obtained from a Teachman researcher. I have moved them to Tabor Cemetery. Is/was Tabor Cemetery also known as Parting of the Ways Cemetery?
If you aren't related to Sidney & Lucy, will you please delete your memorials as mine were created in good faith as to location back in 2009? If you are more closely related than I, perhaps we can work together to make your memorials as complete as mine and I could then delete mine.
We wish you and yours a Happy and Prosperous New Year.
