| Bio and Links | | I have been researching my family genealogy since 2002. The primary lines I'm working on are: WHITE, BACK, BRETT, SIMMONS, WELBORN, and ROGERS and HORNBARGER. Each of these lines have been in Texas since the mid to late 1800s. | |

 | RE: Steele famlies of Johnson Co, MO Hi Anne there are two different Steele families in Warrensburg, Johnson Co, MO where I was raised. I was born in Deepwater, Henry Co, MO now is So CA. I have a James W. Steele b. 1932 who is son of Thomas R "Tom" Steele b. 1880 who married Bertha Mae Evans after 1900 w/two girls May V., and Mary Ellen. He married Nellie Inez Pierce-1910 to 1920 w/4 sons & 2 daughters. Have their info also. Some of my Steeles are still living in Warrensburg and KS. I do use the Historical library there and we are home almost once a year since Jim is from there also. Info on both of our lines is in Ancestry.com and this library has family info in notebooks donated to the library for all to see. Jim's relatives are there also, most all (Parker/Higgins/Youngs) buried in Oak Grove Cemetery at Johnson & Lafayette co lines with address being Higginsville (in Lafayette Co) MO . Part of that Church and cemetery land was PARKER land . Gini | | | Susann

 | RE: Steele famlies of Johnson Co, MO WOW here I am poking around to fine my WINN line and found your return msg to me from years ago re: my Mom's Steele family in Warrensburg, Johnson Co, MO. Do not need any help now, but will continue to look for my 2 Winn peopole who seemed to fall off the earth and disappear after the 1840 and 1850 censuses of Morgan Co, OHIO. they are mother and son and are my two greatest nightmares.
thanks again. We will be in Warrensburg for 3 days in Dec on our way to Madison WI for Christmas.

 | RE: Sarah Ann Bennett Cole picture My pleasure. Younger people talking with grandmothers is the key to passing on the legends, myths, and even facts!
Re: Coles, etc.: I assume you are familiar with -- "The Genealogy of The Lucas and Cole Families of Dallas County, Texas" by Ruth Lucas Gilliland (1979).
Of course, the Cole, et. al. families are stuck with the origins beyond John Cole allegedlly born in VA ca. 1795-- Culpepper they say, but . . . ?
Do you have any interest or knowledge of how to resolve such as question?

 | Steele famlies of Johnson Co, MO Do you know if there are any STEELE or connecting families in Ellis Cemetery? Or can you point me in the right direction for finding info on this cemetery. My searches so far have found nothing. I was raised in Warrensburg Johnson Co MO and am in Oxnard, Ventura Co CA now but do get home almost every year. Hubby is from there also.
