RE: Burslem burials
When I arrived at the church it was open and an elderly gentleman showed me round. He told me there was no burial plan of the churchyard, so he could not tell me who was buried where. He also said that several years ago the churchyard was larger, stretching further north, but when the road and church car park were build a number of exhumations took place with reburials occurring at Carmountside Cemetery. Some of the headstones though were placed along the South edge of the churchyard.

I spent just over an hour looking around the churchyard and taking photos (will create memorials in due course) and could only find the two Sawyer stones I posted. There are several illegible stones and many broken. There are also large areas of just grass, where I assume there are burials without headstones. There is a web site for the church that has an arial view showing this.

From the headstone of Ralph it initially looks as if he died on the 13th but after zooming in it could read 18th. As you say the parish register shows him as being buried on the 18th (but does not give dod). It was quite common for people to be buried on the same day they died although not always. I would be surprised if I missed any other Sawyers.

Here is a link to another web site that has a list of memorial inscriptions for St John. It is quite lengthy but may help you ascertain if headstones can be found for other Sawyers.

Good luck with your research. If you think I can help further, please let me know. I do have access to the Staffordshire burial records.

You have photo requests for Michael & Mary Simon in Hays Cemetery. I took their gravestone photos today but they are actually buried in Easton Cemetery in Easton Pa. not Hays Cemetery also in Easton. I have sent an email to the person who created their memorials to please change the place of burial to Easton cemetery. I just wanted to send this for your reference.

RE: Wiederholts
Hi Daniel,

Thank you so much for putting Alois Wiederholt in the correct cemetery. According to my research, Alois and Laura separated or divorced around 1931, and she eventually took back her maiden name, Laura Schwanke. She and her son Wilbur lived together for awhile in Rochester, MN. He later entered the military service and was killed in Italy Feb 03, 1945. Laura moved to California and died in Los Angeles on Mar 11, 1972. You will find her in the California Death index under the name Laura A. Schwanke and in the SSDI under the name Laura Schwanke.

I did find a California marriage record for a Laura A. Schwanke marrying a Joseph H. Hill on Oct 9, 1957 in Santa Barbara. Either that is not the same Laura or they also got divorced since she was using her maiden name when she died. Perhaps if you could obtain a copy of her obit or her death certificate it would say where she is buried.

I'm not sure yet what happened to Laura and Alois's daughter Lorraine. Their son Howard died on Sept. 30 2002 in Garden Grove, CA and Richard died on April 13 1982 in Los Angeles.

I am distantly related to Alois Weiderholt's second wife, Margaret and I will be asking the manager of her Find A Grave memorial to connect her to Alois's memorial also.

Thank you again for changing Alois' memorial. I hope this info is helpful!

RE: Glen Tout
I have posted a picture that I hope meets your request. I see that you are apparently editing his birth date. From his draft record, it appears he was born 09 Nov 1894 in Ogden, Utah. Good luck with your genealogy pursuits.

Edwin Batterson

There is no marker for Edwin Batterson in the Memphis National Cemetery. If he is buried there he has a headstone marked "Unknown U. S. Soldier". If you would like I can put a photo of one of those markers on his memorial. Please let me know.

Her date of death is from the official cemetery records that I possess. Having said that, these records are frequently in error. There is no headstone.
