I first discovered this site in 2005. It had just recently opened up to 'Non-famous' graves, and like many others I saw the possibilities.
It has become a wonderful site, serving the needs of both gravers and genealogists (and, yes, I know it is primarily a grave registration site!).
I particularly pay tribute to the dedicated and hard-working volunteers who fill grave photo requests.

I've searched numerous times in the Franklin Grove Cemetery for the Donaldsons with no success. Today I went to the library and looked them up in a cemetery listing. This listing came from 1990, when the entire cemetery was walked and documented. Neither of them were included in that list. It doesn't mean that they are not buried there... but it may mean that they do not have headstones. The Franklin Grove Township maintains this cemetery, and they would be able to confirm their burials. If you have a section and lot number, I could at least get you a photo of the vicinity. Best of luck!

Nathaniel MOTT
Hi, GWC,

First of all, thanks for all the volunteer work that you have done for Find A Grave. I very much appreciate volunteers like you.

Could you please doublecheck the year of death for Nathaniel Mott? I believe the 1675 to be a typo.

One source (The Ancient Iron Works of Braintree, Mass.) says the year of death was 1675. If Mott's age of 44 is correct and he was born 21 August 1631), then his year of death on Find A Grave should be 1675 because his last birthday at age 44 would have been 21 August 1675. He didn't live to his 45th birthday which would have been in 21 August 1676.

Thank you for reviewing this typo/discrepancy.

RE: Woodbury Melcher
So far I have not seen anything about their parents. Sr is one of the sources was quite a fellow and changed his will so his son received less than the others. I am using the bio area as a storage center for stuff. It takes a little thought to sort out if it is Sr or Jr. So any help would be great and if you see the references and write anything It would be appreciated. I also want to look into the FRENCH family to see if my own genealogy connects with Rebecca's.

RE: Woodbury Melcher
That was from the insurance web page history. It is also confirmed in the Congregational Digest and the laconian. I have been given the ok to go next week and take digital pics of the portraits that the bank has in storage.
In the Laconian I found a pic of ML sr and Rebecca. do you have an email address? maybe I can send it to you or we can use the goggle cloud and I can post it and invite you to share the goodies. lol
So lots more to come.

RE: Melcher
Frances is a small stone. It is right between The Lincolns on the left and Annie A then Rebecca & WL sr. on the right. So I would imagine it is a child or mother of WL sr. The stone is badly weathered and the vine grow although not there any more did its toll. I looked but would only guess 10 or 100. Maybe a charcoal drawing of it would show it. The vines will interfere.

RE: Melcher
take a look. I just added all but one pic. It is the Melcher plot from the south side and shows the back of the north side memorials. The south side is L to R: Eliza, James, Frances, Rebbecca, Woodbury. If you want it on any pics let me know. You can sort them then to put the one on top that you like best.

RE: Melcher graves
You undoubtly have more info than I. So be my guest. Or I can do what I have and transfer the memorial if you would like.
It is a nice section, raised from the rest, but what prompted me the most was Anne. the headstone is small and inscribed on both sides. So i thought it was a child who had died. I will be working on them tonight or tomorrow. WL's is the hardest to read and has weathered badly.

Carrie May Dickson Bird

The people at Forest Hill Cemetery have no record of Carrie May Dickson Bird being buried there. However, I was able to find a John W Bird and Carrie May Bird living in Door County, Wisconsin in 1940. Is it possible that your Carrie didn't die in 1912, after all?
