"We actually don't fear death. We fear that no one will notice our absence, that we will disappear without a trace". (unknown)|
People come to Find a Grave for many reasons; genealogy, curiosity, closure. People volunteer on Find a Grave for many reasons; genealogy, curiosity, closure. Sadly, some are in a contest to see how many memorial pages they can put in, mistakes and all, and they hold tight to those pages they've created even if they aren't related to them at all…for them it's all about the numbers.
My friend, Melinda Fowler, and I started doing this for our own families and then it quickly became something bigger…it was about other people's families. We have gotten such satisfaction out of fulfilling requests and everyone is so grateful. But it is "we" who are grateful for the opportunity to honor your relatives. We're not in this for the count, but for the gratification in connecting relatives and for recognizing the need to say "I WAS HERE".
p.s. I take a lot of random pictures in the Danbury, CT and Westchester County, New York area. If I should happen to run into your family and you would like to take ownership, by all means let me know and it's done. Families should stay together!

I was wondering if I could transfer some of my memorials to you. You and I seem to scout around in the same areas around Danbury and New York, and I just don't have the time to maintain them properly.

Thanks for all the transfers. You have done such a nice job on the memorials that you leave little else to do besides link those that haven't already been done. I shall tuck them all into their family and take good care of them. I am a happy Dikeman! Thank you.

Why thank you for the transfers......you really didn't need to do that. Most appreciated in any case.

Thanks for the photos. This memorial was a RAOGK on my part. The information came directly from the WHITNEY FAMILY of CT, which came directly from family members. Hale DOES make mistakes when gravestones are very difficult to read, which this one seems to be I have had several instances where Hale records have been changed due to my cross referencing with legal documents.
I have decided to go with Hale's readings in favor of the family record...just because perhaps the family is wrong on this one. I will also include the family record on the memorial so that anyone actually interested can decide for themselves.
BUT, I'm sticking with Dikeman rather than Selleck. That one I am sure of. Betsey didn't marry Sturgis Selleck until after [H}ester's birth. Betsey is my direct ancestor and I am quite familiar with her life details.
SEE: Betsey's Find A Grave memorial #60508750. Yours is a duplicate and the facts don't reflect what you are asserting. Genealogy can be difficult. I truly appreciate your imput.

|Barnard/OConnor/Wolford||RE: Tiedtke @ Woodlawn|
Well, I believe I have wrapped up the Tiedtke search at Woodlawn, after stomping around there today enjoying the near 60 degree weather for one day. I visited August's & Justine's joint marker because the photographer didn't recall looking around for more Tiedke folks. She was actually searching for someone else when she snapped it because of the unusual last name. BEHIND the large Tiedtke stone were 5 more graves! Henrietta, Katherine, granddaughter Justine, Harry, & his wife Corabell. So, now the Tiedtke search is at an end. Happy Hunting, Pamela

I braved the cold today and went to the cemetery. I talked with a different person who just so happened to be on her way to put flowers at the Tiedtke Mausoleum! She gave me the plot diagram. There are 10 spaces inside the crypt. They contain Alice Fowler, Charles, Ida, Anna Marie "Mamie", Ernest, Sylvia, & John. There are 3 spaces still open, as the latest burial was John in 2005. Hope this helps, Happy Hunting!

Greetings. You have a photo request for Ida and asked who else is in the Mausoleum. It is kept locked so I called the office and did some tracing. The family mausoleum has 4 burials inside: Charles, his brother Ernest, Ernest's wife Anna Marie "Mamie", and Sylvia (still checking on who she is). There are two confirmed burials of Tiedtke people in Section 13, Plot 65 and those are the parents of Charles & Ernest: August & Justine. I asked where Ida is buried and was told there are more Tiedtke folks in Section 42, lot 80. I assume this is outside of the mausoleum. On F-A-G there are a few others without grave locations at Woodlawn: Charles daughter Alice Fowler, his sisters Bertha Spross & Katherine, & his brother Harry and wife Corabell. I will have to make a trip over there and check this lot 80 to see who is there since there are no photos of the graves. Then I will also get an updated photo of the Mausoleum. Hope this helps with your research, Pamela

You caught me. Not a spell check, just a search.
