"We actually don't fear death. We fear that no one will notice our absence, that we will disappear without a trace". (unknown)|
People come to Find a Grave for many reasons; genealogy, curiosity, closure. People volunteer on Find a Grave for many reasons; genealogy, curiosity, closure. Sadly, some are in a contest to see how many memorial pages they can put in, mistakes and all, and they hold tight to those pages they've created even if they aren't related to them at all…for them it's all about the numbers.
My friend, Melinda Fowler, and I started doing this for our own families and then it quickly became something bigger…it was about other people's families. We have gotten such satisfaction out of fulfilling requests and everyone is so grateful. But it is "we" who are grateful for the opportunity to honor your relatives. We're not in this for the count, but for the gratification in connecting relatives and for recognizing the need to say "I WAS HERE".
p.s. I take a lot of random pictures in the Danbury, CT and Westchester County, New York area. If I should happen to run into your family and you would like to take ownership, by all means let me know and it's done. Families should stay together!

Hello. I am researching Joanne Majewski Schmeltz's family and I cannot seem to find her parents anywhere. I read in the obituary you have on her page that her mom died right after Joanne's birth and she and her father Anthony moved to the CT-RI-MA area. I found a grave for Anthony J Majewski (born ? died 1972) and was buried in Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton, MA. But I don't know if that's him. Can you please help me? I am very stuck. Thank you.

That's what happens when you get as old as I am.

Can't remembered if I thanked you for her headstone photo. So "Thank you" again?

Sorry, no, but for some reason my iPad sometimes flips my photos to people. I will retake the photo upside down and repost it. I will have to check the photo for Mary C Benham also. To me the photos look correct, but the receiver gets them upside down. Thank you so much for notifying me.
