I live in Chesapeake, Va and visit a lot of the local cemeteries here to help others. My research is in Rhode Island & Massachusetts Areas. I love to find old stones and in some cases read a little about someones past.
I BELIEVE THAT IF YOU LOOK INTO THE PAST, IT WILL HELP YOU MAKE A BETTER FUTURE.

Referring to Find A Grave #22113354
Curious why you posted an obituary that clearly disagrees with the grave marker inscription concerning name of husband

|Megan Landry||RE: Incorrect Information|
I can assure you that you did not speak to the president of the funeral home, the son of Mary E. Sturtevant, who would have more knowledge of William P. and the Sturtevant family line.
My main concern was that I found a disrespectful comment next to my Grandmother's entry which I feel is inappropriate. I'm surprised that an individual who has an appreciation for history and ancestry would post a comment next to an upstanding woman who has no current control over the Sturtevant plots.
I appreciate your concern over my ancestors markers though I wish you had done so in a more appropriate manner.
|Megan Landry||Incorrect Information|
When searching on the "Find a Grave" Olive Branch Cemetery website for my Grandmother's headstone, I was perturbed to find this disrespectful comment next to the photograph of her headstone:
"This line of Gardner's took over the Sturtevant Funeral Home buisness that was started by Charles Sturtevant. I informed them that several of the Sturtevant graves that were in the Oak Grove cemetery in Portsmouth were severely damaged. Mr. Gardner acted as though it wasn't his problem "
This is an inaccurate comment. It was not "This line of Gardners"- It was Mary Sturtevant's family that kept the company running. No one "took over" the funeral home. Also, no one ever approached Mr. Gardner regarding Sturtevant markers in Oak Grove Cemetery. I'm sure Mr. Gardner would be willing to discuss these issues if approached.
This is a sad comment from someone who claims to "visit a lot of the local cemeteries here to help others" . It doesn't serve to help anyone when you list incorrect information. I reviewed the Oak Grove Cemetery website and found you listed Sturtevant graves that are actually in Olive Branch Cemetery that are very well maintained and cared for.
Please remove this comment.

I just saw this messages...seems I don't get my messages from Find A Grave. That has to be the right Val and Darlene--actually the only Val and Darlene that I have ever heard of. Val moved around a lot....I know he lived with his second wife in Marietta, Georgia in the mid 1960's. I do thank you for the information you gave as I did not have that!!

We are so sorry but we have no idea who you would
get hold of for those records. Our nephew
put these memorials in and when he got tired of the program, transferred all of them to us.
